Default topamax etc

he raised it to 100 twice a day. he asked what concerned me more my depression or my appetite and spending. I said the later. I almost started laughing. He also might change the risperdal since he noticed that there was movement around my mouth. I said he was the first to notice it. don't know if i go to the senior center or not. I feel like laughing and crying. Oh I hope the topamax works as it did before. I have only been on 1oo

Did your doctor do blood work for bicarbonate levels, and electrolyes before raising your Topamax?

This drug can cause a metabolic acidiosis in up to 30% of patients and the side effects of this would be confusing... to the patient and could mimic other things.

http://www.ocneurologyinc.com/pdf/Topamax%20Letter.pdf

https://www.fda.gov/downloads/Safety.../UCM169494.pdf

symptoms of metabolic acidiosis:
What Is Metabolic Acidosis?

I think this is something you should pay attention to and ask your doctor to monitor your bicarbonate levels. This FDA letter was sent to all physicians when this serious side effect emerged after the Topamax was approved. But many doctors ignored it or didn't understand it.

I know that you've been wanting the Topamax raised for a long time, so I'm happy your pdoc did that for you Bobby

I'm happy that he noticed the changes around your mouth and adjusted your Risperdal level. Due to that... I think it's important that you don't adjust the level of Risperdal on your own at all anymore. That is a significant symptom that can be dose-dependent and needs to be monitored.

I've been on 200mg of Topamax for 8 (?) years and nobody's ever drawn a bicarb level on me.

It is a mood stabilizer, but not a strong one. So, it has the potential to help you in a couple of ways. I hope it continues to help you Bobby

can i take the two hundred all at once in the morning as I did before or do i have to spread it out. I would rather take it all at once since i go to bed early and wake up very early? I don't want to ask the doctor because I already did and he said spread it out

I take mine all at once, but I'm not taking it to curb my appetite or spending. He may want you to split it up because you are using it for that specific purpose. Maybe if you take it all at once it won't be as effective for that intention.
