I still haven't done it, Gerry. I don't know why I'm refusing to take care of this problem the way that I should…

Yes, I drink a 28oz bottle of Gatorade with (7) doses of Mirliax dissolved in it over the course of about 30-45 minutes, then another one of the same in about the same amount of time. It's easier to do if you take it more slowly than that tho because it's heavy and if you drink it too fast you can get an uncomfortable full feeling, but I just like to get it over with.

Oh my gosh Kay; Have you done anything at all??

In order to keep something moving regularly; I can't miss taking the 3 doses a few hours apart every day; then after doing that, I take a4th dose in a few days instead of the 3. (Medication constipation articles often mentions not taking bulk type; like Metamucil, etc; because they increases bulk which is already a problem with constipation. (The reason I use only Miralax).

This is the only way I keep things moving; (but it's more of a thick liquid..uggh),but I know I am not emptying out completely which should probably be done at times. I thought maybe a colon cleanse would be good to try in between.

I still take my regular med regiment: 1250mg FiberCon and 8.6mg of senna twice a day and 30ml of lactulose at night. That doesn't do anything though. I go to the BR maybe once a week. I try other things, like Dulcolax tabs and suppositories, which don't work well either.

I do see a gastro. That is our med plan, except he wants me to take 2 bottles of mag.citrate twice a week. I used to do it once a week, but I haven't been compliant lately because I just can't stomach it.

I'm actually due for a follow-up with the NP. I have to call Monday to make the appointment.

Going once a week has to be already pretty solid. I hear you about the mag.citrate; I just about throw up. I have taken it cold and with a straw and have to hurry and lay down or I will heave. I just can't stomach it.

As I mentioned before, some Articles say the extra fibre often can really make things that are already too solid even more solid; adding to the constipation. It's really a merry-go-round. My GI doctor told me a few years ago, as long as I am on this medication; I will need to stay on Miralax daily. She was right.

Hope you soon get things moving a little quicker than once a week.

Sometimes I can't even go once a week. It's terrible. I really need to do better with the mag. citrate and/or colon cleanse. I am so backed up.

I will ask the NP about the fiber and the rest of my regular bowel meds at my next visit. Should I be taking ANY of them if they don't work at all?

Yeah, the mag citrate makes me really nauseous. And the colon cleanse makes me feel really full and can give me heartburn depending on which Gatorade I use. I usually water it down and never use the red fruit punch flavor anymore.

I will have to do the colon cleanse soon… maybe tomorrow.

There are 2 expensive prescription meds that are for IBS. One is Amatiza. I forget the name of the other one. I can't afford either, but that doesn't matter since I have tried both of them and they don't work for me.
