Bobby, I know that doctors can really put on the pressure sometimes, but you always have to the right to say no… to anything. It is your body. You are allowed, and should be able to feel free to, to go seek care for one thing and refuse to be tested/treated for something else.

I think this is the doctor we talked about explaining your anxiety to? Have you gotten a chance to do that yet? I would hope he would be more sensitive towards you after a talk like that, but regardless, I can understand why you would want to avoid approaching him about this "area."

If you don't want to go to the doctor because of this issue, you can try taking a fiber laxative like Metamucil or Fibercon and an osmotic like Mirilax together to try to get and keep things going. I recommend the fiberCon, and buying the generics for both.

And maybe let's not talk about the test anymore… ?

I knew about these carotid artery surgeries, I thought you meant neck fusions or something in regards to your spinal column..sorry for the confusion.

I was talking about taking a combination… both laxatives everyday for maintenance.

I'm glad the Philips worked for you! :)
I know it is a big relief physically and as far as worrying.

I am afraid of taking fibers and getting blocked up

OhKay 04-30-2017 10:36 AM

I can understand that.
I don't think fiber's a good idea for you at this point then... I think taking anything for your bowels you're uncomfortable with is a bad thing. Constipation it can cause too much worry already :hug::hug:

The theory of taking both is the fiber bulks up the stool and the osmotic moves it through the intestines tho.

I never tried both together. I just might. It might help. I just checked. I have metucil(sp). when do I take it with the laxative? I just bought more teas. I don't think they have half the amount of caffeine as coffee. I also bought a couple of p.t. thing I used when I went to p.t. I hope I use them. I am reading a delightful book by Gayle Buck. I slept most of the day. Practically everything I read says that having a stroke makes you tired and it lasts for a very long time.

I am glad that you slept.

People usually take Metamucil in the morning. I would take the Mirilax at night.

Dmom3005 05-01-2017 12:13 PM

When I take my fiber pills I take them in the morning. I can't handle the
stuff you put in your water. But I've found it takes me quite a few of
the pills. But it will help after a day or two. I also try to eat bran flakes
as much a week as I can. At least 3 or 4 times a week. Its been
the most help for me.

I wouldn't have ever thought it would be. But I wasn't getting a lot of
help with anything else. The bran usually makes the fiber pills unneeded.

Thank goodness.
