I'm glad that you have a psych visit scheduled for Monday
I see a NP, not a psychiatrist. Most people in my area see NPs, no matter what their diagnoses are. Mine is VERY good. I would not trade her for all the tea in China. So, don't worry if you don't get to see a shrink at your first visit.

I hope that whoever you see can get you set on a path to you feeling better soon :hug::hug:

I see my therapist tomorrow morning. I am taking a shower in the morning before my visit with her..
something irritated my middle finger just a few minutes ago. I picked up some little tree branches that the squirrels chewed off for some reason...and got biten by something. My finger stings and is swelling. I took 2 benadryl.
A friend of ours showed us a picture of her daughters friends mothers hand that got infected from swimming in the waters in florida. It got infected with the flesh eating bacteria and had to amputate her hand and may have to take her fore arm as well. Her daughters boy friend got infected also and has only lost a finger so far. Very scary!!!!!!
So, so awful.
WE ARE going to pensicola in august.
I am staying clear of the waters there!!!!!!!!!:(
bizi

Did 3 hours of billing and some filing. So happy about that!

Mari 07-16-2017 11:33 PM

Weird stuff but I looked it up:

Woman contracts flesh-eating bacteria in Gulf of Mexico

M

OhKay 07-17-2017 03:51 AM

That is so scary about that lady's hand! I hope they don't have to amputate anymore. From Mari's post, it seems like the infection is pretty rare, but I can understand why you would want to avoid the water after seeing the pictures you saw... I'm sure they were awful.

I hope that the Benadryl helped with the swelling from your bite. Is it really itchy and/or sore?
BTW, how is the roof of your mouth now?

I'm glad that you're going to see your therapist today. It seems like your OCD is better, but it will be good to have an opportunity to talk to her about it

Congratulations on hunkering down and getting some of that paperwork done! Three hours is a lot of time to invest in a project (you don't like) like that... Great job! :)

bizi 07-17-2017 09:30 AM

Looks like I am not going to get a shower....sigh
Got out of bed late.
A couple of months ago I was getting up early.
Doing my exercises, practicing my ukulele...
now I am slug....
The roof of my mouth is a little sensitive still. 95% better.
My finger is still slightly swollen, a TON better! And it hurts just a little.
very odd.
Have a good day yall!

just got back from the psych doc. got an rx of klonopin (hopefully this helps with the relentless sleep jerks thats causing my sleep anxiety to go nuts everynight. also got an rx for propanolol.

Gethprime 07-17-2017 07:20 PM

got a question for those who take klonopin. how long does it take usually to kick in?

bizi 07-17-2017 09:58 PM

I usually take my klonipin 30-45 minutes before I want to sleep...but usually I take it right before bed and wait to fall asleep.
I am switching to seroquel so I only take .25mg of klonipin(I was taking .5mg) and 75 mg of seroquel. The klonipin stopped my restless legs syndrome so that should help you too.
yeah!

I saw my tdoc today, we talked about what I wanted to talk about so that was good.
I was going to take my shower tonight but changed my mine and will go to bed early and take one in the morning.I have to leave the house at 9am.
Had my friends daughter over to help me with some paper work, she did not finish so she is coming back tomorrow night to finish it. She confirmed that her mom is mad at me. Sigh
I will stop trying to interact with her, maybe text her that I am here if she needs me. anyway. It is what it is....

I ate at a new place for lunch.
The beet.
I had an organic chicken black bean quinoa burrito with some cheese and salsa on top. It had a buck wheat tortilla so it was gluten free.
(Which doesn't really matter to me)
It was delicious!
Sat and talked with the owner for some time while I ate.
He is a vegitarian and they make alot of press/juiced drinks and smoothies.

He told me that we should be taking an iodine supplement because they don't add it to salt anymore.....I will have to research this.

I got the 1mg tabs which I plan on splitting. 1mg seems a bit high for a 1st timer like me on a psych med. I sometimes use the Hylands Restful Leg med. It helps a bit though its short acting. It did help out alot with my leg jerks and restless leg. I was really angry and antsy that the various ERs wouldnt Rx me klon. One even Rx Val which I expressly said I did not want. I cant take Ativan because I got a nasty sore/rash feeling on the inside of my lip. Atarax makes my heart palps and PVCs so severe I get light headed like I suffered orthostatic Hypotension

Yes start with .5mg or even .25mg to see if that helps.

It usually takes about 1/2hr for Klonopin to kick in for me. I haven't experienced any side effects from it, aside from drowsiness, especially when taken when tired, or mixed with other sedating meds.

If you are concerned about how the 1/2mg dose will effect you, get in bed 1/2 hour after you take it...
And I would do as Bizi suggested, and take 1/4mg. I may not get a perfect dose, but I snap the 1/2 of a 1mg pill in half by hand if I want to take 1/4mg because I don't want to crush the pills. Not all pill cutters are created equal...

A lot of people with RLS say they find relief when they start taking Klonopin. I hope the same is true for you :hug::hug:

Did you like the doctor you saw?

OhKay 07-18-2017 06:01 AM

I'm so glad that your tdoc let you control the appointment. That's the way things should go unless there is a crisis

I'm glad you got help from your friend's daughter. I hope that she can finish things up for you tonight so it's not weighing on you anymore.

The new restaurant sounds great! It's rare that owners engage with patrons in that way anymore...

He is right about the salt. Most of the salt that they sell in the grocery stores don't have iodine in it anymore. I use one that does have it called "Diamond Crystal Premium All-Purpose Iodized Salt" which comes in a red container. It is the only one that my supermarket stocks, but even that is hard to find sometimes...

We mostly eat what I cook, so I'm not concerned about our iodine intake, but since you eat out a lot, you may want to take his advice and start taking a supplement.

bizi 07-18-2017 08:40 AM

My account on my phone is locked.
I tried to enter in my apple ID and password, with 4 different passwords. which did not work.
it does not give me any hints to the pass word, I guess I will just have to go into the store...
sigh
very depressing. I hate my phone.

After going to 2 stores and then home to open up a new account id....My phone is working again!:D
yeah!
I wrote down the pass word and apple ID number and put it in my wallet, my filing cabinet and on my desk top.
So I should be covered.
What a hassle!
My girl friends daughter finished the filing and cleaned my bathroom, I bought a new bath mat, the other one was black...yikes!
We missed her birthday so we gave her $100.
She was very happy.
And I thanked her profusely.
In 2 weeks when my labels come in, she is going to make new billing slips, which is a task that I hate. She is 20 and her folks are getting a divorce....

I woke up this morning with my Left hip and leg in pain.
I have been grunting and limping all day. This pain is nothing like the right hip limp that I had back in March.
This is very painful.
I will be seeing a doctor if it is not better over the weekend.
Just what I don't need.
I am very concerned about this.:(

I'm so sorry to hear about your hip, Bizi :hug::hug:
I'm glad to hear that you are not taking it lightly tho, and will go see a doctor if it doesn't improve soon. It's a recurring problem that isn't going away, so maybe you need more care than a chiropractor can provide

I hope it improves so you don't have to pay for a doctor's visit tho. I know that you have a high deductible

I don't know if you were given a fair shot at rehab for that leg because of the inexperience of the PTs and the fact that you were overworked because they didn't take into account the condition of your leg and your age, or you just reached a point where PT did all it could for you given the damage done from the stroke :hug::hug:

I don't think that means you should give up. I would want to go to a REALLY GOOD PLACE and find out for sure which is the case. When I go to PT, I start out with pool therapy. It would be fantastic if you could find a place that offers that.

bizi 07-21-2017 08:05 AM

pool therapy, that is a great suggestion for bobby.

mymorgy 07-21-2017 09:16 AM

how are you today? does the weather affect them?

bizi 07-21-2017 01:12 PM

I slept like rap last night. Last night both my hips bothered me., trying to sleep with a pillow between my legs. I usually sleep on my left side. and if I fall on my back I wake up in pain because my diaphragm freezes and I can't take a deep breath with out pain. Weird I know.
So I sleep mostly on my left side. My shoulder was painful...it just got to be uncomfortable in any position so I got up.

WE NEED A NEW BED!
We are looking this weekend. It is 15 years old.
bizi
Thanks for asking bobby.
I am stiff when I get up and am better as the day progresses.
Don't know about the weather, don't think it effects me. How about you?
Do you have arthritis?

mymorgy 07-21-2017 01:22 PM

my left knee always now

OhKay 07-22-2017 05:53 AM

If you are waking up stiff and getting better as the day goes on, it could be arthritis. But it could be other things as well. I think you have suffered with these hip problems long enough and should go see a doctor :hug::hug:

I think a new bed will help, at least a little. Your bed is so old!!! A new one will be a great investment. Do you know what you are looking for as far as firmness? No matter what, I think you will feel like you are sleeping like a queen when the new mattress arrives :)

bizi 07-22-2017 09:21 AM

My hips are still bothering me, especially the left one.
(But it is much better than a few days ago when it really was painful!!!!)
We have met our medical deductible for the year so I should go see an MD.
I really should start doing my exercises that the PT gave me from before.
I really should go back to the gym and row.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda,
sigh

Sorry about your knee bobby, ((((HUGS)))

Spent an hour last night picking at my thumb,
and it was so much better....:(

Drinking too much

I work today, will see a hospice patient at 10 then go out of town an hour to see 2 clients. one in a rehab place then the other at their home.
Hoping I time the visits right.
Jeff has a gig this evening.
Plays jazz guitar for a 20 piece big band called the sky liners.
The band has been playing for 66 years, of course all of the original players are gone so lots of new people. I have been several times, fun to listen to 40-50's music. The audience/dancers are dwindling because younger people are not that interested in ball room dancing or swing.

Jeff is volunteering for 2 hours at a brew festival today before his gig.
He wishes he could stay for the whole event like last year.

Went to whole foods last night, saw my girl friend who is back for a while getting some medical issues taken care of while she has state health insurance. She doesn't know how hard/easy it will be to get Tennessee state insurance so while she has Louisiana insurance she will come back for care. She thought she was going to have to have a hysterectomy, maybe not.

Her daughter has already moved to TN and is living with her grandparents and will start school there in 2 weeks. She attended private schools here and will attend public schools there so she is excited, plain clothes instead of uniforms!
They are still trying to sell their big expensive house.
The Dad is on house arrest with his mom....
His Jury trial date is April 2018.

Well I had better get going....
Have a great day yall!~

That sounds like a good idea. There are seats designed especially for the driver which also removes a lot of pressure.

OhKay 07-23-2017 05:49 AM

The car seat Bobby suggested is a good idea, provided you get one that doesn't prop you up too high.

I think going to the doctor is a good idea/the way to go after dealing with your hip issues for so long. It's time to find out what's causing this level of pain. You may just need injections :hug::hug:

It's too bad that more younger people aren't interested in swing dancing. I went to some classes with a friend when I was about 17 and we had a ball! I love being flipped! We were too young to get into any of the joints that had swing dancing at the time, but we would mess around.
Later, a girl friend and I used to go to a club that featured different kinds of music and had great bands. I got to swing dance once when asked. Unfortunately, the club closed. It was a big disappointment.

You have so many friends to worry about :hug::hug:
I hope this friend is able to get the medical care she needs before she returns to TN, doesn't have to have that hysterectomy, and is able to get insurance when she gets back there without a big hassle.
I can't blame her daughter for being so happy about being able to go to public school. It will be a big change, and will help broaden her horizons... at least some good can come out of that mess.
I really hope that house sells fast so she can cut another tie with that scum bag, and hopefully get some money from the sale.

I hope you had a good day, Bizi :hug::hug:

bizi 07-23-2017 10:31 AM

Thank you kay.
We will be looking at a new bed today.
Good new beds can cost $5K, friend of ours just bought a new bed.
Cost that much but his back pains went completely away!!!!!
Wouldn't that be great!!!!
Even my feet ache when I get up in the mornings.

I worked yesterday and it was a good day.
Went to whole foods and ate some delicious shrimp marinade, olives, fresh shrimp(not over cooked). spices. It was delicious!!!!!
Then had some beers with Donna. Stopped by the grocery store and picked up some groceries. The fridge was empty.
So picked up cherries, pineapple, yogurt, cottage cheese. pork roast, pork tenderloin on sale, avocados, bananas, organic grass fed beef hot dogs and some sliced turkey and ham from applegate farms.(uncured and nitrate free).
We are having food from sandras tonight for dinner:
grilled chicken shwarma, and soup. Mine will be cabbage and jeffs veggie soup.
Going to brunch in a bit....scrambled eggs with spinach and black bean salsa heated up over the eggs and a side of brocolli.
That is if we go to the hub city diner again like usual.
But we night try somewhere new????
Hope yall have a nice day!
