Halloween was fun this year.
lots of kids and their families.....a couple of trucks pulling trailers with kids on them.
This afternoon, I felt so stupid.
I accidentally left my bag of supplies at my clients house. I had gotten off of my routine. I was trying to lock the door and called the son to lock it remotely. Then I just went to my car and drove off.
I did not realize that I had left it there until I arrived at my next clients house and opened my hatchback and it was gone. So i had to call my client back and tell her what happened and that I was going to be late. Then call my 4pm and cancel that appointment reschedule in a couple of days.
sigh
I hate it when I am human and make mistakes....it is very humbling.

I wore all black and a white face mask which jeff had bought and let me use. We gave away a lot of candy.
I thought we were going to run out!
We would have had I not bought 90 more organic suckers from the health food store yesterday.
any way....
Jeff is busy putting up the electronics and equipment. I asked if I could help and he said no.
oh well it has always been his thing. He puts it all up then takes it all down, has a method of storing it as well.
I am getting very tired.
I should go to bed real soon.

Freezing up does not make you a bad nurse.

You have not worked in an ER, and if my memory serves me well, you have not worked on an acute care inpatient floor either, so you are not used to those situations. Those nurses are experienced in jumping into action.

Real life emergencies do not happen all the time. Most people freeze... even experienced nurses

I'm sorry you left your bag and it spoiled your day, but s*** happens. I hope you've forgiven yourself by now

Can you put bitters on that finger to deter you from biting it, or will they irritate it since you have done so much damage?
I think you need to cover it (and maybe put a finger cot over the bandaid on it) except for bedtime because you obviously can't stop picking at/chewing it or you will end up with an infection which you don't want with the work you do

Not having emergency skills has always been a downfall.
I used to work on a PCU
(I can't even remember what the P stands for...Something then care unit)
It was a step down unit, like stable ventilator patients, If they became unstable we would send them over to ICU. We had 2 patients per 5 nurses. Total care, no aides to help, you did not need it. They were all hooked up to telemetry. It was more advanced than my beginners skills. It was the first job as an RN. (It was a weekend option job 2-12 hour shifts with full time pay) There was an incident where a person was going bad/south and needed to be quickly transferred to the ICU and I was not able to assist them in doing this. I was to simply transfer some IV fluid bags from one bed to another or something like that, My memory....I could not do it and accidentally cut the main catheter line to his heart and blood was going every where. The charge nurse stepped in to solve the problem that I had created and I was relieved of my position and asked to go thru orientation on days during the week or resign my position. I chose to resign.
I went into home health after that.

I guess it is for that reason or just for fun like a hay ride.

A PACU is a post anesthesia care unit where patients go post-op, but some hospitals use those units as waiting rooms for acute patients waiting for surgery, etc.

That NEVER should have been your first job as an RN. You should have had at least some training on a med/surg floor, and ideally some on a telemetry floor, too. It wasn't your fault. They set you up for failure.
