I agree. It was a nice article. I wish that more people cared about the mental health of people in America, and around the world.

The subject should be at the top of the list. People should know that the mental health of people is just as important as physical health. Discrimination has got to stop sooner, or later. I hope that it's sooner. BF

I heard that if there is "more money left over," whatever that means, they may expand Medicade further, but IDK about the likelihood of that.

I understand your anger, BF. You have every reason to be angry

The problem with making changes to the healthcare system is that the changes are always going to effect the most vulnerable of us because we are the ones who utilize the system the most. And because of medical and mental healthcare problems, a lot of people end up relying on programs like Medicaid. I think it's massive abuses in that system that have led to it growing out of control and the increased calls for cuts to it, endangering people who really need it... people like you, my friend

Kay, I think you have said it pretty well; it's massive abuses that are really at issue. So many were added when Obamacare came in. The amount of people eligible have expanded to the highest number of those ever on Medicaid. It is my understanding the really issue is not cutting Medicaid; but lowering the annual increase. Which is similar to cost of living raises. They do not intend to remove people; again just the annual increases lowered before the costs are totally out of control.

Unfortunately; the scare tactics work on those again; most vulnerable; even if they are often not true. Sad.

I disagree with most of your points, thats fine......If you cut, you wont help.....As far as I know our population is growing!....So even if it stayed the same we would be cutting out people just because of the numbers.

We sure have no problem killing and maming people all around the world in the name of freedom...and its costed trillions so far
But help americains?.....for some reason thats a bad thing?....But if you are one of those that will get a tax break....I bet it will feel awsome for them.

Nope; nothing for me. Just hope and pray there's enough for those in need. Not cutting anyone out; my understanding is annual raise % would not be as high to allow for those in need to be covered now and in the future.
Don't know where the rest is coming from.....

Gerry is correct.

The issue is Medicaid expansion.

When Obama Care came into effect, people who otherwise would not qualify for Medicaid became eligible based on expanded income guidelines. Under the the new bill up for debate, fewer people who qualify for Medicaid based on those expanded income guidelines would qualify over time and states would have more control over the Medicaid program (something a lot of people don't like).

The problem is that if less people with lower incomes qualify for Medicaid, legislators need to find a way to make sure that they will be able to have access to affordable health care. There are different ideas about how they will do that. That's where the controversy lies.

There are other obvious issues with the bill, but that's just the explanation of it as it applies to Medicaid.
