I think that self care is really important.
It is a way to be gentle with our selves....to be thoughtful and take pause on what we do to help ourselves.
I intentionally flossed my teeth because I had not done that in years...sort of rebellious about it. but I remember when I got the exrays from my dental place it showed 2 areas of concern...sort of like precavities...so I bought an electric tooth brush then went in to ask about crest new detoxifyer paste...do we really need to do this too?
They said no to use the listerine mouth wash, the purple kind so I bought that and jeff did too.
I have good teeth and need to take better care of them...no cavities or fillings.

I look at over eating/gaining weight as not taking care of myself. I feel that way about drinking.

I brush and floss and stuff but I really hate it.

And I mostly keep up with dentist visits.
The last visit I missed the appt and they left a message to reschedule.

yes mamm still af monday thru thursday for the past 5-6 weeks don't remember when I actually started doing this program.
It is really working out well. Yesterday I had some cravings while coming home from work earlier than I thought. That is always the witching hour...wanted to stop at fat pats for a couple of beers but then thought about my plan and my friends who are helping me be accountable like you guys. and the other forum I post on called HAMS. It is a place for people who want to moderate their drinking. I have a guy that helps keep an eye on me and gives me encouragement too. His mane is arty.
We are not going to trivia tonight. Going to a concert instead...a jazz band starts at 7.
I work late tonight so jeff may prepare our last meal with out me.
last night was good not great, the recipe called for too much water.

the dried mushrooms were rehydrated in water and we were supposed to use all of the water later in the dish. Jeff ended up using half the water. And in the end it was still too much liquid. It made everything sort of bland. There were a lot of ingredients. It was a curry cabbage and pork meatballs.
It was good just not our favorite. Tonight is a chicken dish with butternut squash again.
I am running late this morning. Got to bed late and missed my shower this morning. I need to run to the bank and order euros. They will be here by tuesday. Got a phone plan for us to use our phones for $10 a day per phone. I will probably leave my phone off unless we lose each other then turn it on.

I think that the sneakiness and stopping off for beers after work without telling Jeff is all about control. And that is okay because you are also taking control by sticking to your program and restricting your drinking to the weekends

I'm sorry that the last meal in the kit you made didn't turn out well. I hate it when recipes don't work out the way they're supposed to. I wonder how bad it would have been had Jeff not realized the recipe called for too much water? I hope the next meal turns out better.

It was a great idea to get the phone plan for your trip! That's something I never would have thought of. It sounds like a really good deal. I didn't know that you had to order Euro's either.

How helpful was your friend to you in the planning process for the Prague leg of your trip?

Friday night:
It was a drinking day for sure.
2 truly drinks at home after work before the concert then after the concert (it was a new orleans band, big jazz traditional jazz)We enjoyed the concert very much. went back to our friends house to visit
and I drank shots of gin....double martinis. I really like gin...he had these great olives stuffed with almonds and red peppers. came home around 11:30, but got to bed after 1am.
Stayed in bed until 10am this morning, slightly hung over. onto my second cup of coffee.
weight was 178.4 so no change there...good!

I forgot to tell you, because I worked late, jeff cooked the last meal from green chef. It was labor intensive.
Chicken tenders with butternut squash and tomatoes, red onions and garlic and pesto rosemary/garlic herb blend. balsamic vinegar with dijon mustard topped with feta cheese.
It was delicious!
The best meal we have had.

I need to get into the shower. We will go to chris's po boys for our traditional gumbo for lunch. I work this afternoon out of town for a husband and wife in a little town called Iota.
It takes me an hour to get there. Jeff is going to the foot ball game this afternoon with his colleagues from school. They are all in the music department and get to walk in with the band. They love being able to do this. Not sure what I am going to do. I will probably do some more research for our trip. Looking at metro maps is confusing.

I always check in with the family before going out of town to provide foot care to this husband and wife. I tried to call their daughter with no answer so I called the house. The caregiver there told me that their son died on thursday. He was 64 years old and had downs. And had an anyerism that burst. They took him to the hospital and he died peacefully.

Every body loved timmy. He was an alter boy at his church every other saturday for decades. He loved to color and give/get hugs.

I called their daughter again and left a message to call me.
She called me back and cried telling me the story.
She told me that her mother was agitated(Alzheimer patient) and her dad was crying off and on. So they are grieving. We rescheduled the appointment for next month. my heart breaks for this lovely family.


Jeff just left for his cook out and going to the foot ball game.
I am still wondering what I am going to do. My friends are all busy with their families. I think I will do some reading up on our trip and maybe try to figure out maps etc. Later I will get dinner somewhere. I am thinking about getting my nails done for the trip. I have one thumb nail broken all of the way down to the quick so it looks funny. all of the rest of my nails need to be shortened but they look pretty this length. I will see if they can dip them in the acrylic the make them strong, my other thumb nail in cracked all the way into the quick and catches on things.and looks terrible. Maybe they can fix that one too. Think I will go do that now.

Spent the whole afternoon at a nail salon.
Got a manicure and pedicure.
They fixed up a torn nail and made me a new one. then a tip for my thumb nail that was completely torn off.
I had gel polish put on them they look so good, clear polish on my fingernails.
The toe nails are a color that I brought along, a dusty rose color, and they turned out great!
It was a husband and wife team. He spoke great english, she not so much.
They are Vietnamese and go to a church out of town, about an hour away. All of their friends go to this church so they see them weekly.
We talked shop a bit. I was there a long time.

Ate at chipotle for dinner, choriso bowl (onions and peppers, tomatoes and sour cream and cheese) that I brought home and heated up because they are always cold when I eat there.
I am having drinks but nothing like last night.

I'm so glad you got your nails done! Whenever I get my fingers and toes done I feel like I'm in the salon forever! I'm glad you're happy with how they came out and the couple who worked on you were so nice
