I'm sorry that your pdoc is not listening to you, and you feel like she is judging you for not getting better

You can try calling the pharmacy to get an update on the prior auth, or contact the insurance company directly (mine is open on Saturdays) to see if they are going to approve it or not, so you don't have to waste anymore time on this med, and can (hopefully) try the one you want, or one that you think may work out well for you
Most health plans have their drug formularies online, and many are searchable. If you feel up to it, you can take a look at yours to see if the med is on it, and what the restrictions are (prior auth, quantity limits, step therapy, etc), Sometimes they require patients try one med in a class of drugs before they will approve another more expensive drug (has happened to me).

The only direct knowledge I have about ECT is from 2 women who started doing treatments many years ago. They both have serious memory problems, their personalities have changed, and their mental health problems have actually gotten worse over time. I know things are probably different/better now, but I would never do it.

Hi Mari. If someone is judging you for not getting better, they can hurt you pretty bad. I know this very well. People really don't know much about mental health problems unless they have been through it themselves. BF

My Friend who completed the ECT protocol took lots of pills one night and ended up in the ER. He suffered brain damage. I visited him in the hospital.

And I saw him at his home months later. He was still anxious and with the
brain damage he was confused as well.

=-=-
I do not see ECT as a viable option for me. The protocol for
the treatments is rigorous -- lots of hard work scheduling and
getting rides back and forth to treatments (because one cannot
drive themselves home after that of course.)

And one cannot drive during this whole period anyway because
memory is not good and people tend to get lost driving. For a while some cannot even figure out how to return home.

Yes Bizi,
its an vagal Nerve Stimulator. My sister has one for bi-polar.
It seems to help her a lot.

Derrick has one for seizures and it works really good for him.
ITs honestly the reason he has an life again. It works very good
for him.

I think I remember you talking about how intensive the treatments were when you looked into them in the past, Mari. It sounds stressful to me, and I don't know how anyone is able to work out transportation.

I hope you are able to find out about doc's med early today- one way or another. If you don't hear anything, I would call the pharmacy, your pdoc's office, or the insurance company before it gets too late in the day, so you can talk to your pdoc about getting a prescription for the Remeron, or something else you are comfortable trying/retrying like a Tricyclic...

I know that you want to adjust to your new medication before you have to return to work

Hang in there. Chocolate and ice cream do work while you are eating them and chocolate might last longer. I gained four pounds and stopped eating them.
I suffer from chronic depression so I know how you are suffering. Being around the students is that going to help or is resuming school going to make it worse.
If the democrats do well in the coming election will that help? I find the news very painful but still watch it. We all care so much about you. You have a lot of inner strength and grace. I hope the grace helps.
