Anyone with experience with this?

If you have been diagnosed with BP you should consult with you physican over the use of gabapentin.

My SIL is bipolar, had some harrowing times from taking multiple meds form different MDs.

She ended up in the hospital, we thought she was a goner, but fortunatly her husband got a doctor to sort out the prescriptions, and take her off 3/4 of them. She is doing well these days.

I haven't been diagnosed with BP, but I have depression and MS and when I started taking gabapentin for nerve pain, it improved my mood. I wasn't expecting a good side effect, lol.

I also took it for muscle pains. So I'm not sure how it works for other
things. I would keep a eye on things.

Its how it works for you.

Gabapentin has been prescribed for lots of things.

It did not pass the trials to be marketed as a mood stabiliser but
some people find that it works.

I have MS, and take gabapentin off-label as a mood stabilizer for BP disorder. It no longer works for neurological pain for me. I guess that's a good thing because high doses would be too sedating because I'm on heavy psych meds now.

My main mood stabilizer is Seroquel now, but I'm maxed out. When my mood starts to shift, my pdoc adjusts the dose of gabapentin I take, and it's been working really well for me.

Please keep us posted on how things work out and how you're doing
