Hope the company that comes is one that you really likes.

I'm glad they are an family company. I really hope Corey
steps up and starts getting the things out for you. Maybe
have a quote for the junk people just in case he needs a
fire lit to get started.

Yes, I was wondering about that too.

Also if you have an non profit group in the area that would
come to help so they could make a little extra money.

They might do it too. If they are close especially.

I went to buy boxes yesterday, and to return something to Sears that I bought online (nightmare). It started snowing right after I got home. We got somewhere between 5-8" of snow and ice. I almost fell down the stairs when I went out to clean off my car, but I was VERY LUCKY and I didn't. I still had that holy s- moment tho. 2 nice gentlemen cleaned my car off for me, but I still had to move it across the parking lot, which is a mess... not looking forward to walking back across it to move my car again.

They guy from 3E was very nice. He talked a lot about his business, his kids, and how proud he is of them. He emailed me the estimate a couple of hours later. Long story short, 3 guys 3 hours to do the job, and the total estimated cost was is about $875, which is actually a little less than what I thought it would be. Corey was floored. I told him I thought it was reasonable for all the s- we have, and I booked the movers. I think when all is said and done, it will probably cost less than the estimate. But there is a little snow in the extended forecast, so IDK...

The big move is on Saturday, but we sign the lease and get the keys on Friday, so Corey took the day off. I'll bring over things we'll need immediately the next day like toilet paper, paper towels, and water. We'll also bring over the lamps and a few other things. I don't know how much he'll want to do.

Neither one of us has seen our apartment, but at least I've seen the model apartment. He's going to be blown away

Tomorrow we are supposed to take Dottie to the Humane Society
It doesn't seem real to me. I can't believe she is leaving me. I have to brush her out today. I have to lock her in the bathroom with me in order to do it because otherwise she will try to hide under the bed because she hates it so much.

I've decided I'm not going to tell them that she scratches furniture. She's 11 years old, and I think that will make it hard enough for her to find a good home. She also pees, poops, and pukes every time she gets put in her carrier (I will tell them that), and nobody is going to want to take her to the groomer every 4-6 weeks to have the soft paws put on and deal with that unless their vet will give them drugs to sedate her. I have (believe it or not) gabapentin from our vet that I will give her to make her more comfortable before we go, so hopefully that won't happen. I'm going to sleep with a towel tonight so my scent will really be on it, and put it in her carrier tomorrow along with her favorite mousy toy.

I have today free because Judy texted me last night to reschedule my manicure appointment because of the weather. Corey left the boxes I bought in the living room, and they're staring at me making me feel anxious and nauseous, so I guess the move feels real now. We can leave the clothes in our dressers (Yay! Less work for me!!!), but I'm going to start packing up as much of the closet as I can today, and start throwing out as much of the s- that we don't need/want/use as possible.

I bought a (badly needed) new desk and chair from Walmart.com on different days, and they were both supposed to arrive by the 20th, but I just got an email saying the desk will be here tomorrow. I hope it comes before we have to go to the Humane Society, or the FedEx guy will just leave it by the door. I just ordered the chair last night. No idea when that will come.

Kay

I am so sorry you are having to do this. Hopefully they will
find Dottie a nice home with someone that will like an older
kitty.

I tried brushing out Dottie. It was the first time she's ever hissed at me. I had to stop because she was getting so stressed, but she's already forgiven me.
I did the best I could, and she looks a lot better. I won't try again because I don't want to torture the poor thing.

It's snowing again!!! It was not in the forecast. I'm not moving my f'ing car again!!! When I went to move it back to my spot, I almost fell down the stairs again!!!

She is really a living doll. She likes people and other cats. She's so easy-going, and really responds to being patted. If someone wants to meet her, they will fall in love with her.

Good Kay,

Maybe the humane society will let you help them write up the
description and tell what she is like. Maybe that way you could
help them find someone. I think maybe you could also show
an video of how she is with you in your apartment, explaining
why you had to let her go. Not sure if it would be possible
for you to do. But maybe that would help you too.

Last night Dottie was sleeping next to me on the couch on her pillow and she looked so comfortable and content... I looked at her for a moment and it just felt so cruel and unfair to her that I have to give her away... to take her away from me and her comfy pillow and have to put her alone in a cage. She's such a good girl, I love her so much, and she doesn't deserve this

I just keep hoping something will happen to save her (and me) from this, but I know I will have to give her away today

I will tell the people at the Humane Society all about Dottie. They are good about writing little stories up about the animals to make them appealing to potential parents. She's not an active cat. She would be perfect for someone who's looking for company, but I think she would adapt well to other situations, too.

I guess I got a lot done yesterday. To the cats' dismay, I finally got around to folding up the socks and underwear, so they can't take turns laying in the laundry basket anymore. Then I went through the linen closet and threw a bunch of s- in a bag, and threw it in the dumpster on my way to buy Corey cigarettes. When I got home, I took all of Corey's clothes out of the closet, folded them, and sorted them into piles before packing them... too much for one box, even without the stuff I pulled out to be donated. He has a TON of clothes. I pulled out a bunch of things from my side of the closet to be donated, too. I DON'T have a lot of clothes. Most of the things that will go in my box will be jeans (of every size) so that I can move my day-to-day clothes that I hang in the closet into my dresser for the move.

I'll finish packing up the rest of the closet today. I have to move some things around in the office and vacuum in there before I start filling the room with boxes tho. And I need to get some ironing done, and switch purses before I pack those up, too. I hope if I keep busy, I'll stop crying so much.

I don't know how I'll make it through the trip to the Humane Society
