Kay,

Oh, Boy!

What a hassle.

Thanks for letting me know. This way if I do get questions I will not freak out.

I take it as a medication with CRPS. I take 900 mg morning and 900 at night for allodynia. I also take opiates for the CRPS. I have never heard of pain patients using gabapentin to get high with the pain meds (as stated above)....I can't see how, as I have never "noticed" this medication other than it making me sleepy on higher doses.
It's interesting....my pain mgt. doc, before realizing I had CRPS, told me he didn't want me on Gabapentin, because it was a "nasty" medication, then when he realized I had CRPS, he wanted me to take "as much as I could tolerate." He doesn't realize he told me this years back, but I've never forgotten. I dont care for the sleepiness, but it does help with the allodynia. There have been times I tried to take less and the allodynia got significant...too significant, so I determined I needed this medication and keep taking it.

CRPSinSC,

Sorry to hear about the allodynia. 'Good to hear that the Gabapentin
helps you.

I had one psychiatrist who told me that doctors prescribe Gabaptentin for all kinds of things.

I'm on a low-ish dose because, when I increase the dose, I get paresthesia.
It might not be a serious side effect (I don't know), but it's a weird
unsettling feeling.

I'm so sorry that you are suffering from CPRS and allodynia
Do your medications provide you with enough relief, or do you still suffer from significant pain?

I've taken opiates for surgery while on really high doses of gabapentin, and don't remember being stoned at all. I had surgery in November, and was on dilauded, and wasn't stoned, but I was only taking 800mg/day then.

I think the warning is because of the people who are already abusing differing kinds of opiates in really high doses.

Thanks, Kay.

I was awakened by the door-bell Tuesday afternoon.

Hubby dealt with it. Apparently the neighbors' son
(Maybe about nine years old) got his little
drone /mechanical airplane stuck on our roof.
The boy's father got it down with a with a fishing pole.

I guess it was nice of the boy's father to let you know he'd be in your yard...

Honestly very nice. Many don't anymore. I've told my neighbor with
little boys to please use my big yard to play ball with his boys and
to let his little guys play on my swing set. Because we have a really
busy road, and they wouldn't be safe in it. They ride their bikes in
it. But then they are not safe many times that way too. It worries
me just as it did when Ethan lived next door and rode a bike in the street
I had him ride at my house in the dead end street. Or in the street on
the other side of his house.

That is so nice of you, Donna

We were not allowed to ride our bikes outside of the driveway when we were growing up. When I asked my mother when we could, she said when we grew up, we could ask our husbands lol

Mari,

I hope that something positive comes out of that conversation with your mother. In the meantime, I'm happy that you are able to self-soothe

The drive to the airport must have been stressful. I don't envy you. I'm glad that things worked out.
