I take it as a medication with CRPS. I take 900 mg morning and 900 at night for allodynia. I also take opiates for the CRPS. I have never heard of pain patients using gabapentin to get high with the pain meds (as stated above)....I can't see how, as I have never "noticed" this medication other than it making me sleepy on higher doses.
It's interesting....my pain mgt. doc, before realizing I had CRPS, told me he didn't want me on Gabapentin, because it was a "nasty" medication, then when he realized I had CRPS, he wanted me to take "as much as I could tolerate." He doesn't realize he told me this years back, but I've never forgotten. I dont care for the sleepiness, but it does help with the allodynia. There have been times I tried to take less and the allodynia got significant...too significant, so I determined I needed this medication and keep taking it.

Angry Klonopin update

Hubby went to the pharmacy and they told him that they did not get
a call back from the doctor yet.

I'm not happy about my care!

I have enough pieces for two nights (tonight and tomorrow).

I was at work all day without a second to make a telephone call.
I will try to call pdoc Tuesday.
I have emailed her in the past but I feel weird now about asking for
klonopin, a med I have been on since the 1990s.

CRPSinSC,

Sorry to hear about the allodynia. 'Good to hear that the Gabapentin
helps you.

I had one psychiatrist who told me that doctors prescribe Gabaptentin for all kinds of things.

I'm on a low-ish dose because, when I increase the dose, I get paresthesia.
It might not be a serious side effect (I don't know), but it's a weird
unsettling feeling.

I'm so sorry that you are suffering from CPRS and allodynia
Do your medications provide you with enough relief, or do you still suffer from significant pain?

I've taken opiates for surgery while on really high doses of gabapentin, and don't remember being stoned at all. I had surgery in November, and was on dilauded, and wasn't stoned, but I was only taking 800mg/day then.

I think the warning is because of the people who are already abusing differing kinds of opiates in really high doses.

I wish you had just emailed her, Mari

I hope that you can get a hold of her today, so that you can get the Klonopin you need. Maybe you can ask her how to avoid this s- in the future?

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this anxiety... (((HUGS)))

Hi,

Thanks. I'm o.k.

Just overwhelmed with the same stuff.
Also sleeping weird times which makes it hard to get up in the morning.

I missed a meeting Thursday. Even with TWO alarms I slept passed the
time I was supposed to get up.

I am going to bed now at 5:29 A.M.

Mari

I'm glad you are at least getting some sleep.

Wish we could help you figure out a way to get some sleep at a better time for you to get to work.

I know that is a wish for all things.

I wish you didn't have to struggle with sleeping problems like you do. I know that you said that you missed your meeting Thursday, but I really am amazed that you can do all that you do despite them

I'm sorry that you are overwhelmed...
Wish life will get easier for you (((((HUGS)))))
