It's great that Derrick did some volunteering. He sounds like a great kid.
I hope he had a wonderful time skiing! I do not do FB. I swore it off many years ago. It's very odd about the obit for your tenant... I guess you could just send a card to the family. I'm sure that they would appreciate the sentiment. |

Hi Everyone,
I had an interesting meeting with a parent today. I was worried I wouldn't be able to help her. Because the things she really needed was some ideas. Her son is really good in reading and math. Is in 5th grade and for some reason can't spell. Its really weird he even knows he isn't spelling things right, but can't figure out why. so its odd, I've never ran across one like this. But anyway the other part of this problem is to do with the need for OT. And that she is doing on the outside for now. Anyway they mom and grandma felt I gave good advice I'm glad. Because then I get home and get into my email, and find out the silver alert I kept wondering why seemed like a name I knew on Friday was one I knew. Was a student I was working with starting this fall. Ugh, its not something that I'll be working with it seems. ITs a sad situation it seems, I'm not sure what is going on here. Donna |

Donna,
You are so good with your kids. Can he be tested for dysgraphia? How is his hearing? M |

I had to look that one up Mari. It sounds like a real possibility. Is it something that is part of standard testing? Or something that has to be tested for only if there is a suspicion for it?

Well its something that would be harder to test for.
I'm honestly not sure that the school psychologist does this. But it is what the parent is going to ask for too. Along with some other things. I'm also kind of leaning towards having speech pathologist take a look to see if she has an clue too what is going on. Donna |

Kay, I don't know how the schools work these days. It's just that I am sensitive
to any child who might have extra needs. I'm glad to hear the update, Donna, because I didn't know how schools do this. Is there a chance that his hearing is impaired? M Last edited by Mari; 07-18-2019 at 06:30 PM. |
