It is close to 100, and we have heat warnings right now.
Derrick came home with me last night. I hated to think of him with the weather being in the heat. So was wanting to know he was cool and all. So he is here till after the surgery. And hopefully when the weather cooperates they will get to start on his house. UGh. Donna |

The children who do need extra help are lucky to have women like you and Donna looking out for them... My Aunt is a Special Education teacher, so I know how tough that calling is. |

I have to say even though this is my calling its so nice to get paid to
do it. I have no regrets that I left behind the field of computer programming for this. I always have loved this field. Just never could handle the science field to get a degree in elementary education. I was in that too at IUK for a while after leaving high school. I spent a semester to a year helping a young fourth grader learn to read. He had a cleft plate ? spelling. Anyway he didn't learn to talk till 4 1/2 or 5. And I was assigned to help with a class I was taking, after the class I continued. So then I was still helping, and he got assigned the biggest talking part in Paul Bunyan the play. They are assigned on a Friday got their parts, we were going to start on Monday, Me helping him learn his part. We had like 4 weeks to learn it. he came back on Monday, had learned his part memorized it over the weekend. It was amazing. The teacher, I and the reading teacher were all amazed. The teacher, had almost taken the part away. I had told her to wait, I thought I could work with him and get him to learn at least enough to get by. Well he had other plans. We were all happy. And his mother came to the play, and he had asked specifically for me to come. She told me how he memorized it. And why, that he wanted to show us all he could do it. And I told her, I had planned to help him. But he had made my job so much easier, and how proud I was to get a personal invitation from him to the play. Even though I had planned to come. She said, he had made it to bring it to me personally. That he enjoyed the time we spent together, that he thought I was helping him a lot. And she thanked, me. Said, no one else had ever cared enough to try. It really made my day. Donna |

I feel for you and Derrick. What troopers!
fondly bobby Blue The alice in wonderland effects you talk about I believe are also another thing that are talked about in seizure world. But also the aura's you are having could easily be before seizures. My son has simple and complex partial seizures. And a few other kind and he used to have aura's before his seizures a lot of the time. He also has migraines, so does all my family. Me included. Some of the things you write about sound a lot like complex partial seizures, which usually means you go into a altered state and don't realize you are doing the things you are doing. In my son's case as a child or teen. He could carry on a full conversation, and even do things that were like he was with me completely. The only way I knew he had no idea he was doing these things. Was that he would then say 30 minutes later. Make a statement that would show me he had no idea he had done something. Like one day he had been at a soccer game, he had a seizure, we went to taco bell, and behind us in came a coach, and his son. My son and the coaches son carried on a conversation. Got a drink and all. Then about 30 minutes maybe later. He went up to get a drink, and the coaches son who was sitting in the back section. Came up and got a drink, I heard him say, He when did you get here. And they carried on a conversation. The coaches son, looked at me, and I just shook my head and showed I heard the conversation, Derrick came back to the table. And said, I am guessing I had already talked to him. I said, yes but guessing you dont remember. No mom, I don't remember at all. I said, his dad is here too. Derrick has tried about every medication, His VNS is what has worked the best. He is getting ready for his to be replaced for the 3rd time on Wednesday. Donna |
