Good morning everyone!
I actually slept some last night and feel more positive today. It can be a vicious cycle. Yesterday I did very little. My tank was near empty. I managed to walk the dog around the yard several times and did some minor garden work but nothing strenuous. I planted about 7 different herbs and two tomato plants in larger containers for my daughter who lives in an apartment. She attended both cosmetology and culinary school before she got her associates, then became very ill, so has many interest and can cook like a pro, as long as she has a good assistant, her hubby. They for the most part make a good team. She is in a wheelchair when out and about and is working on loosing weight and gaining strength and endurance. We almost lost her several times. We have a home that is much too large for our basic needs. Family visits and stays for weekends and out of town guests so we have decided to stay here for couple more years. My daughter and her hubby lived here for couple years. My brother has a room here but usually stays with his close friend, as they work together. This is a lot of upkeep. We have to devide the work up and am way behind. 4000 sq ft. When kids were younger it was perfect. We built it. Lots of work and learning curves. I am painting some this week. |
Sleep can be so restorative! :):):)
I'm so glad that you are feeling more positive today, but I think we all have those days like you had yesterday, where we are suffering physically or emotionally and feel a little sorry for ourselves :hug::hug: I'm so sorry to hear how hard things have been for your daughter. I think that you had touched on that a bit in a previous post, but had not gone into so much detail. I admire her for being able to pursue her many interests despite her many medical problems, and I'm happy to hear that her husband is supportive. I'm so happy that she is still is still with you (((HUGS))) The upkeep on a 4,000sqft house must be unbelievable! I think my 2BR apartment is 950sqft. But it sounds like you are making use of the space with your guests! :) I'm glad that you and your husband divide up the work, but if you are not feeling well, and are falling behind, will he pick up the slack for you? Or is that something that you don't want him to do? I like peanut butter and fluff sandwiches in a pinch :D |
I like peanut butter and fluff sandwiches also. I add rice crispys to it when I really need something yummy.
My daughter lives as independently as possible. Among other things, she is in stage 2-3 kidney failure. Right now she has another kidney infection, two nasty bugs, on her fourth or fifth antibiotic, as had anaphylactic like reaction, head to toe rash from antibiotic. Got thrush. Now has to carry epipen. She needs a break. But she carries on. What a dear hearted gal. Hubby tries to pick up the slack when I get behind on my chores. He already does more than his share. When I feel physically able, I try to do things I know he does not like doing or is simply not on his radar. My July 4th plans have suddenly changed. My eldest son and his three kids are making the trip to my fathers. This is apparently the only time my son can go and his wife wants me to go with, as she has to work. So, off we go. He and my dad are supper close. They talk every week. Both diehard Cubby fans. He will return home with kiddies on Sunday and I will stay the week to help my dad with his new home chores. This man is a machine. By golly Sherman Williams paint is 30% off, lets go! He helps me stay active. I hope I can keep up. |
Have a good trip, Rain.
M |
What a trooper your daughter is! It's really hard to stay positive when so much s*** is being thrown your way. I hope things start to improve for her soon :hug::hug:
It sounds like you and your husband are sensitive to one another needs, and you make a good team :) I hope you have a wonderful Independence Day with your family :) |
Having a difficult time here at my dads. He can be a bit demanding and opinionated and we were hitting heads a couple days but yesterday the poo hit the fan.
My daughter was hospitalized for pancreatitis so I was already on edge and less tolerant than usual, so let's just say my dad is choosing his words more thoughtfully today. Having my son, his three kids and myself here since Thursday has been a bit much for him. They all left Sunday. Now my hubby is here and we are staying the week painting here and cleaning out hubbys brothers house, which has been vacant since his untimely death a year and a half ago. Lots going on. Trying to stay positive. As Donna says, just life. |
Dear Rain,
I hope that your daughter is o.k. That's a big job -- cleaning and painting a house. Good luck. Take things easy when you can. M |
I'm sorry that your poor daughter has pancreatitis now... is this her first time having it? I hope that she is getting good care, that they are managing her pain well, and that she recovers soon :hug::hug:
I'm glad that your father seems to understand how the situation with your daughter is effecting you, and has calmed down now that it is less hectic in the house. I hope that this is the end of the friction between you, and you can enjoy your visit together to the best of your abilities with everything that's going on (((HUGS))) It sounds like you and your husband will be busy. I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother in law :hug::hug: It seems like you are always trying to stay positive. That's wonderful given everything that's on your plate (((HUGS))) |
Hi Rain shower,
How are you, and how is your daughter doing?:hug::hug: |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I miss you, and hope that you are okay (((HUGS))) |
Happy happy birthday!

Happy birthday!
|
I hope everyone is doing as well as possible. Catching up on posts. Daughter became septic with possible pancreatic abcess. I cut my trip short and returned home. She is on the mend at home today.
Thank you for the happy birthday wishes. We stayed in, as I have a cold and really did not feel up to going out. I need to clean today but have little energy. Will tackle some kitchen and bathroom tasks but not much else. I tossed my to do list for now. Choose not to waste precious energy on it for now. It can all wait except prepping for an upcoming vocational evaluation from workers comp. I have to update my resume and print social security earning statement. I hope this will end this nearly 5 year ordeal. I just want it over. My lawyer said expect survalence. Bring it on and watch me do nothing. Does not help my mild paranoia for sure. Stay safe from this heat! |
Happy Birthday
Donna :grouphug::hug: |
I'm so happy to hear from you Rain shower! I have been thinking about you and your daughter often...
I'm so glad that your daughter is home now. I know that just because she was discharged that does not mean she is 100%. I hope that her health continues to improve :hug::hug: I'm sorry that you are nursing a cold  I'm glad that you threw out your to-do list for now. Just do what you can. Try not to push yourself too hard :hug::hug: I wish you didn't have to go through that evaluation process... it sounds like tons of fun. I'm sure that you have nothing to worry about, but just the mention or possibility of "surveillance" would trigger my paranoia as well (((HUGS))) |
Happy Belated Birthday Rain Shower !!! Hope you did something special for yourself !!!
((( Birthday hugs ))) Blue |
Hello all. Daughter is doing better. I worry as she really did not take any "down" time to recover. She and hubby went north for a short trip which I was hoping she would postpone.
I am recovering from pneumonia, which took a lot out of me. All the coughing has caused a flare of crps in my neck and back. Kind of a bummer but I am happy to be able to get out of bed and keep moving. Watching my daughter's dog during her mini vacation. He is the brother of my female mini astralian Shepard. The two of them together are a bit much. I wish I had a fenced yard. They are very active. Take care |
Rain
I hope you keep doing better. And the dogs are getting along together. Hopefully they will calm down for you. Donna :grouphug: |
I am sorry for your pain...
((((HUGS)))) bizi |
I'm so glad that your daughter is doing better! I hope that this trip she's taking doesn't set her back at all... I guess she's like her mother and doesn't believe in taking it easy for too long ;)
I'm glad that your pneumonia is clearing up. I'm sorry it was so hard on you, and you are still dealing with the effects of it. I hope it doesn't take you too long to recover (((HUGS))) Being happy to be up and moving around is a great attitude to take. I give you a lot of credit for managing to stay positive :hug::hug: I hope that the dogs don't become too much for you. |
I made it out alive having two active dogs in house. My daughter had a nice trip however now has upper respiratory infection. I hope she does not have my pneumonia! It is always something...
We are traveling back to our home town again and attempting to empty out hubbys family home (brother lived there until his untimely death) so we can put it on the market. It has been vacant almost two years. All sibling will be helping out for a week. I don't feel like going but I am going anyway. Agree Kay, can't stay down too long, just like you. Take care |
Good luck with the cleaning out the house!
That is usually a huge job. Don't hurt yourself and take breaks and drink plenty of fluids. bizi |
I can't do a lot, but can help out with taking things to donate and go through books and such.
I might strip wall paper at dads new home. There is a boarder of wall paper that must go in one bedroom, before we can paint the last bedroom. We plan on being there a week. Get to see my sister. My youngest son and his wife have graciously offered to watch our dog so we don't have to take her with us. Makes things so much easier. I hope everyone is feeling better. Thinking good thought for you all. |
good luck with the wall paper!

Hi, Rain,
I wish you a full recovery from the pneumonia. Continue to take care of yourself. M |

Don't you just love to paint and get a home ready for sale. I used to do that for my landlord to work off my rent, it was great therapy. Hope you are feeling better !! Blue |
Hello everyone! I am still at my father's helping with his new place. We painted master bathroom and smallest bedroom. Wallpaper removal was a bit more difficult than it should have been. We got it done and the walls look great, for a 50 plus year old home. Had an adjustable temperpedic bed delivered today. I feel better having him in a safe, ranch style home and a better bed for his back.
80 plus years young. I worry... Getting hubby's family home emptied and ready for sale. What a job! 60 years of stuff. His siblings are helping all week. Mental health is not to be taken for granted. We struggle everyday with things others may take for granted. Tread lightly. Take care |
Rain,
That's a lot of work. 'Probably good to feel how much you have accomplished.:) Tread lightly. M |
Hi, Rain,
How's your father in his new place? M |
Hi All,
My father has settled in well. He is such a busy man. He now is having his huge oversized garage sided (currently not vinyl siding some other product that require painting) and house( which is aluminum sided) painted to match. I helped him with getting bids etc during our visit and we decided on a company. Will start this project end of September as this is a very busy season for siding work. The problem is his home he moved from was all brick, solid and maintenance free. This place is smaller and needed some TLC. But in a much better neighborhood and safe. He likes it but needs things just so. Mean while my summer projects have been put on hold, again. I did pick a paint color for my master bath. It has a grey or light blue silver mist color involved but need to get a sample. I am feeling better. Going to see my primary MD's backup today, as my primary is on vacation for two weeks. Need med adjustment now and she will listen I hope. I hope this post finds you all feeling as good as possible. I have crawled out of a big hole and can see the light. Finally! Take care |
it all sounds great!

hi rain shower. Glad that you are feeling better.
bizi |
Hi everyone. I hope you are well and suffering less.
I continue to have longer periods feeling physically better. My breathing is much better and my pain levels are also intermittently better. I still wake up frequently during the night and struggle to sleep. I am using meds that I have not had to use in awhile to try to get back on track and am more physically active, which should also help. It takes time. So glad to hear Bobby that your arteries are not obstructed, you were able to give yourself the injection and good price for this new expense med. Bizi. Sounds like you are tackling the alcohol ingestion and are sleeping better. I am so happy for you. Thank you Mari for your well wishes. It makes me feel better when I am given such positive encouragement. Also knowing I am not alone during my suffering is very reassuring. We had rain all night and day, with temp highs in 70s, much cooler at night. Leaves are already falling. I'm in Wisconsin so this is not unheard of but I am not ready yet. Happy belated wedding anniversary. Sorry your meal was less than expected. We go out so infrequently that the last time we got bad service and food I simply let the manager know and they comped the entire meal. When I feel good enough to actually go out to eat, I get pretty excited, which just makes the disappointing odd meal more intolerable. You are such a great mom DMom. I used to go to Indiana University hospital one week out of the month for almost two years during my research employment. I managed a department and did this special project at the same time. I helped set up a research unit there and helped write their standard operating instructions for the research clinic. This place is exceptional! Rileys children's is exceptional. Such a great experience. Really hard work and nearly kicked my butt, but we did it! The unit opened and enrolled patients in studies with life saving medications. I miss the science. Take care, Cindy |
Thank you cindy for your kind words of encouragement.
Am glad that you are feeling better and sorry to hear that you have sleep issues as well...lots of us here have sleep issues. (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
great to hear from you. love how you refer to our suffering!
fondly bobby |
Sending some hugs and love.
Donna :grouphug::hug: |
I hope you are sleeping better with meds.
(((((HUGS))))) bizi |
Thank you I am sleeping better and actually remember a dream or two, which has not been the case for several months.
I strive to stay up and out of bed. I have a bad habit of watching tv while laying in bed, which my chiropractor said emphatically not to do as it messes with back and neck muscles, as well as the spine. It is hard not to do this so I put a very comfy chair in bedroom and have been faithfully doing stretching and relaxation exercises several times a day. I can't do them for very long so do them for short periods 5 or 6 times a day. I also try to do both sun and moon salutation yoga postures first one early in day and then at sun down. I can't always get on the ground so do modified versions when I am unable. The main thing is to watch my breath after the set of postures are completed give my self some time I lay down flat (use pillows if needed) or sit n a chair palms up and feet 12 to 18 inches apart and consciously slow it down. This is called the pose of relaxation. I count to six on inhalation and exhale to a count of 8 or 9, to get all the fresh healing oxygen in and all the old tired air out and breath deeply. Just lay or sit there as long as comfortable. As thoughts drift into my mind I pretend there is a ballon connected to the thought that lifts the thought out of my mind just for now. If the thought is troubling I imagine it being tossed straight into the sun and it disappears. This takes practice. I hope everyone keeps safe and especially Mari with this storm. Take care Cindy |
thank you so much for a very informative post.
fondly bobby |
I am glad that you are sleeping better!
It sounds like you are taking care of your self. good for you! bizi |
