Default Rant

Two of my good friends are sick... not from the “thing” everyone is talking about...

And as I do not like talking about that “thing” I do not have many to talk to who somewhat get me.

No med or therapy will cure this “disease”

A therapist who was abusive said I was .... **** .....In a mean way. This was over a year ago. I did not make the changes he wanted on his time schedule. We did not even set goals.....he just slammed me one day with the “news” - his perception - that I had “failed” therapy as I had not made “significant change”

I do not want to stress my husband out by looking for another therapist at this point... but maybe if things don’t improve I might have to...there will likely be some “change” then which will not be positive since I find their words to be rubbish in this forest (in real life) (putting it politely)

I am also allergic to most of the meds and the doctors in this forest do not listen.

No need to reply to this rant.

Thank you for being here and for graciously allowing me to post.

Warm thoughts to all

I do have some benzos, they do allow those to me, as I do not speak to them or take up any of their time and I have not been labelled with something like “addiction issues”..

I was prescribed seroquel a while ago. I became allergic to it when the doctor increased the dose to 200mg.

I know you said no replies necessary, but I want to anyway.

Actually, I'm a little confused. Is this illness with your friends what is really upsetting you so much that you need to go back to therapy, or were those two separate rants/issues? I'm sorry your friends are sick and there is no cure. That must be really hard to go through and watch. :/ Also, I can understand the frustration with doctors. I mean, I haven't had the degree of challenges you have had (particularly with mental health doctors), but I do struggle with convincing my hubby that it's a good thing and the "system" doesn't help me prove my point either, because the system kinda fails. Staff overlooking appointments so we have to wait long periods of time past our scheduled times just to get in and then only get a few minutes with the doc. Therapy wasn't so bad, but wasn't necessarily helpful near the end. I dunno. I think you may have heard some of this already so I won't continue. Just wanted to share that I too struggle with the notion of bringing up therapy again with my hubby, but I might have to if I feel it becomes necessary or might help. Lately it was relationship issues, with him actually, but even that is sorting itself out. I still wonder if he's just being nice to avoid me going to therapy...but hey! If it lasts, maybe that's ok!??

Hugs

Thanks for your reply. It was two separate rants/issues.

Except, I have found a few people online who often listen better than any therapist I have found has done... and I’ve been told I listen well too (to people I understand somewhat)... many of the professionals in this forest in real life do not even listen kindly, well or accurately......

Yeah I don’t think therapy is that great a thing a lot of the time... it would have to be a very good therapist who doesn’t judge or turn mean. My husband doesn’t like the idea of me going back to therapy, I was so hurt by that idiot of a therapist I saw for far too long. I know that most therapists do want to help. But in my particular location a compassionate therapist is very hard to find and too many do harm

Oh sorry I realise I wasn’t clear..

When I said “no med or therapy will cure this disease” I was meaning me. I haven’t found therapists helpful. Or most meds either. Meds did help for a while until I became allergic to so many of them (something else caused my pre existing allergies to worsen)

Oh. Ok. Thanks for clearing that up.

I also forgot to mention that I also don't like talking about that "thing" very much either. I mean, it's hard because it is a reality, but if it can be avoided, I do it and encourage others to do it too. Most i say is to be safe and smart, but stop obsessing about it for that only brings you down. Id rather spend my time watching Conan O Brien comedies, for example. Oh, but i CAN find humor in SOME of the "thing" related jokes...but I also need jokes not at all related, because joke or not, it's still a reminder...but if it's a good joke, it can be kinda helpful too. Hope this makes sense. I know I seem to be going back and forth on this. I guess I'm just trying to apologize in advance to you if or when I mention, the "thing" in other places, but assuring you that I do try to avoid it in most cases.

Hugs

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure most of us avoid it.

I'm not much help on what to do when your allergic to medicines. But I can tell you if talking here will help some of us are willing

Is your bad experience with therapy and therapists the reason your husband opposes your return to therapy? He may - or may not - have observations of your reactions to treatments, observations that may help you decide how to proceed.
