Very good question. But with this diagnosis do you have like
tics like the verbal words that just come out. And can't stop,
like: Want drugs, I'm a hobo, just continueing for a few .

vocalizations are classic tourettes and not TD.
Thanks for clarifying his symptoms.

Its really bad because for years he has had the tics with movement.
He added the vocal about a year and half ago. But mom wasn't ready
to admit it could be tourettes. But it really sounded like it. Now she
has asked the psychiatrist if it could be. And the psychiatrist agreed.

I'm so glad that when he swictched schools his case manager switched,
because the person that had him, had the idea still to say oh I think he
is still able to control this. Even though he had finally when asked by
mom told her he didn't know why they came out. They just did.

His old principal had also told mom he was pretty sure that this child
had no control over his words when these came out. So he was on
board. And he would see them when he was in his office with him
trying to calm down before mom would get there. He was the
reason he could stay in the school as long as he had.

They both hated the fact he was leaving behind a great principal.
But the principal is making a point to keep a eye on him. So hopefully
that will help. He gave them both his direct contacts.

Is Tourette's inherited from mother or father?
Image result
Genetic studies have indicated that TS is inherited as a dominant gene, with about a 50% chance of parents passing the gene on to their children. Boys with the gene(s) are three to four times more likely than girls to display symptoms of TS.

There is evidence from clinical trials that risperidone can be effective in controlling tics and it is widely used.
has this been tried. what other medication has been tried?

Bobby

I don't think they know if it runs in the family. His parents are
divorced. So I don't think his mom knows if it runs in the dads
family. And the medicine its so new of a diagnosis I'm not
sure if they have tried that yet.

I believe that you were on it for along time and asked to be taken off of it. It was a good med for you, don't remember you talking about your hypomanic back then. maybe there was weight gain? I don't remember.

there was definitely weight gain. I was definitely less depressed and obsessive. I did function much better when I was on it. I slept more too. I also had less anxiety. Then I had no problem walking and hadn't had the stroke yet.
bad mistake I guess but maybe the weight gain contributed to the diabetes and stroke.

Image result for can risperdal cause diabetes
Side effects of Risperdal include gynecomastia (male breast growth), stroke, weight gain, and diabetes. A number of significant studies link diabetes to Risperdal.Sep 17, 2018

another study said for type 2 diabetes taking risperdal was not significant.

Risperidone can cause metabolic changes that might increase your risk for having a stroke or heart attack..

I also just read no significance for the elderly but I wasn't elderly when I was taking it.

maybe send a note to your PDOC and ask him if he can recall why you were taken off the risperdol.?
