Well, get better fast.
Rapid Antigen's usually positive if they say positive.
If they say negative they can actually be positive.
Best is PCR. It appears pretty foolproof just takes a little longer to process in the lab.
Not heard of finger prick ones here yet.

Rest up. Thinking of you.

Red face

the nurse practitioner said he would prescribe an inhaler and anti biotics if it gets into my chest and is bacterial in nature. they too will be in tomorrow until after 3pm in the meanwhile I took a zyrtec and flo nase. and delsoum cough syrup. My nose is stuffy. I asked jeff to pick me up some plate lunches from sandras they have some in the cooler. And asked if he could get some vicks salve. I bought cough drops but they are not mentholated. I am drinking hot water still helps my itchy throat. When I cough it gets raw. and can't stop stop coughing. but I think the cough syrup helped because I am not coughing as much and the duration of the cough is much better.I have had today 3 major coughing jaggs where I could not breath it was terrible 2 times I was on the phone talking to my clients loved ones canceling my clients for a week out. I will see in a week if my symptoms are better.

This is going to sound really odd, but does your cough have an odd sound
too it. My team leader said that was how she knew her husband had something
more than just a cold or cough. That his cough was different than usual.

And he had already been to the doctor earlier that week for just the sickness
visit. She took him back, and that was when he had covid, pnemonia and
was put in the hospital and on oxygen. Not to get you worried or anything.

But I'd want to be on the side of caution as I'm guessing you are. By doing
just what you did. Not having your appointments for the week, and not
going out to eat. And things. I'm guessing that might be the hubby's
biggest problem. The weekend is here. And he doesn't want to stay home
too. But just please take care of yourself, have him get you soups if necessary
and good foods if you feel like eating. Maybe sleep in the spare room
for his sack. Not that it really matters, because he was exposed.

pcr polymerase chain reaction
This is the one that can be taken with the high nasal swab and they usually combine that with the back of throat swab as well. It's done by a nurse or doctor or pathology and it goes to the lab. It's not a rapid test. It is used to look at DNA for a specific virus. May all be totally different testing methods over there by the sound of it. Your blood test and finger prick ones are probably the same thing. Haven't heard anyone having those done here.

This PCR one was the only one used here until recently and then they brought in the rapid antigen tests (RATs) that people do themselves. Totally unreliable in my opinion because it seems to depend on what stage of the virus you do the test and also if you do the test correctly etc. etc.. They were brought in here at great cost to the consumer (you and me) and are now as rare as hen's teeth over here. (all just my opinions)

Hubby is out and about? Not sure that's a great idea. He probably needs to be tested sometime soon too, symptoms or not.

Keep an eye on your temperature. If you don't have a thermometer, ask a friend to buy one and drop it at the front door.

Dear lara,
Are you in the medical field...?
you are so well versed about the tests etc...
I just took it: 97.6 temp, that is what it was at the walk in clinic.
I have a husband who is at the store, just down the road a few blocks.
now that my cough is under control I feel better. still stuffy nose but

the vicks salve should help that tonight. and cough drops.

I will also take generic benadryl. and the flow nase. once a day zyrtek. which lasts 24 hours. but no mucinex!!!
Thank you for all your advice.
my inhaler if I need it and my antibiotics and cough syrup are ordered and will be in tomorrow at 3pm . I called and asked him what to take for a cough and he said delsunm so I went and bought some.

I trained in nursing. Long time ago. I also try to keep up with advice here because they change it so often it's confusing. I also try to keep up with current advice here because I'm so very, very afraid of getting something that may be very serious for me due to my underlying health condition and the actual treatment I take.

That's a lot of stuff you just took lol eeek. You'll sleep tonight I would imagine.

I'd make you some soup if I lived closer.

Drink water water water water etc. Lots of it.
p.s.You've got Vit C there I think you said recently. Take that today.
Good night.

how are you feeling now. i think you should have a back xray after you feel better. i think you mention that jeff and you sleep in separate bedrooms because of snoring so i think he is okay. If it is the omicron you should feel much better shortly since you know it is mild and over fast.
I do hope you are always wearing the best mask since you are out all the time.
I am more concerned about your back. that is why i wish you would get an xray and the p.t.
i think we are all paranoid of the virus. i heard they are working on a vaccine that will cover all covid viruses. can't wait.
yes drink tons of water and low sodium soup. get the strongest antihistime they have over the counter-just google it.
please write you are feeling better.
love
