Default Grouse!

I had written about a tooth extraction on Wave's thread before. I resisted adding to that this time because she absolutely needs that thread for herself. She is NOT enjoying herself and can do without somebody else piggy backing.

SO - I had my blood test reports come in on the 4th, and platelets were ok-ish, normal by my auto-immune standards.

So we went ahead with the extraction.
Guess what?
Platelets had decided to forsake me.

No blood clot formed. I bled till late at night. Drugs then took over. But no blood clot = no healing.

Now I have what is known as a *dry socket*. Bone, nerves exposed to the pitfalls of life. Painful is not the word. Diclofenac + Proxyvon (so there is no overdosing on one drug) every 6 hrs.
Can't open mouth, move tongue when the anti-Inflammatories are on their way out.

Body bad.
Body not nice.

Please have a good day for me.

Unhappy Dear Serengeti

I'm so sorry. I'm afraid I have no words of advice.

Did they give you a time frame when the wound would heal... it must at some point.

Are they testing you... are your platelets "healthy" (sticky), aside from the count?

I can't imagine how you are feeding yourself. Are you able to take fluids? Milk, juice, yogurt, v8? Semi-fluids - cream of wheat or cream of rice? scrambled eggs, warm cream-of-anything soup? I am so concerned for your nutrition.

So many questions. I am so sorry for your pain. I wish it weren't.

love and a big huge hug. If I could share what calories i get with you, I would.

OUCH..................................sounds painful to say the least.

Platelets are so important, I know because when my mom was so sick, her platelets dropped to zilch, she had to get 2 blood transfusions and platelets, but remember she had a stroke and seizure. So, I am not trying to scare you, circumstances were different.

I do remember that she had a Blood Dr. I forget what they call them. He dealt with the problem and everything got back to normal, she was on 2 meds for it, and they checked her platelets everyday in the hospital, and afterwards she had to go for blood work periodically.

I would call the DR, and/or go to the ER, you shouldn't be bleeding like that.

Keep us posted and take care, Hugs, Nikko

Yes Bizi, I am doing the saline water routine.

And Waves, I am hating my way through all the gooey stuff that are supposed to pass for meals. I am a *textured* food fiend.
My platelets are sticky enough but the majority of them die on me as soon as they are produced. The nasty auto-immune stuff.

Nikko, my Dentist, poor thing is looking after me well. Years of rotten medication have begun to take their toll. She does what she can.
And she has that additional qualification that makes her a great Dentist. She is pretty. While on that chair all that one can see is the Dentist's face, and a pretty one helps.

My huge guilty craving for ice-cream has deserted me just when I need it the most. One Hot Chocolate Fudge on the first day and that was that.

But hey, I have started cycling as of yesterday - 75 mnts streight.

It feels good to share all this with you guys.
In the real world I am one of those with stiff upper lips. Mine only stretch to amuse others. Some kind of neccessary childhood - I can do anything, nothing phases me - issues.
Ha-Ha.
Here 'though I really appreciate the Molly-coddling.

Thanks Guys.
