Smile It is your bank account.....

Subject: bank account

A 92-year-old, petite, well-
poised and proud man, who is
fully dressed each morning by
eight o'clock, with his hair
fashionably coifed and shaved
perfectly, even though he is
legally blind, moved to a nursing
home today. His wife of 70 years
recently passed away, making
the move necessary. After many
hours of waiting patiently in the
lobby of the nursing home, he
smiled sweetly when told his
room was ready.

As he maneuvered his walker to
the elevator, I provided a visual
description of his tiny room,
including the eyelet sheets that
had been hung on his window.

"I love it," he stated with the
enthusiasm of an eight-year-old
having just been presented with
a new puppy.

"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the
room; just wait."

"That doesn't have anything to
do with it," he replied.

"Happiness is something you
decide on ahead of time.
Whether I like my room or not
doesn't depend on how the
furniture is arranged .. it's how
I arrange my mind. I already
decided to love it. "It's a
decision I make every morning
when I wake up. I have a choice;
I can spend the day in bed
recounting the difficulty I have
with the parts of my body that
no longer work, or get out of bed
and be thankful for the ones that
do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as
my eyes open, I'll focus on the
new day and all the happy
memories I've stored away. Just
for this time in my life.

Old age is like a bank account.
You withdraw from what you've
put in.

So, my advice to you would be to
deposit a lot of happiness in the
bank account of memories!
Thank you for your part in filling
my Memory bank. I am still
depositing." Remember the five
simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Hello there One More time!
Long time no see.
You gave an excellant responce to the thread for zombie slayer.
I am happy to hear of your progress.
I too am on lamictal and am actually able to get up in the mornings and go to the gym...this is really a big issue for me....as I have not ever been able to get out of bed in the mornings before 9...now I am getting up around 7;30 .
Getting some excercise is improving my health...I am proud of myself for being able to stick with it...not some fleeting thing that I get bored with...although it has only been 6 weeks that I have been a memember now.
Hope to see you T around more often.
((((HUGS))))

Hi Bizi, you ray of sunshine, you.

Thanks for the compliment about Zombie's. Prompted me to go back and read what I said!!

So glad to hear of the help Lamictal has been to you. I have found it to be remarkable. In the United Kingdom (England and such), the powers that be in the National health service has said that Lamictal should be tried before any other medication, they see it as being so ideal for a majority fo patients.

You have gotten up, gotten out -- for SIX WEEKS????? Hey, for me, SIX HOURS of anything continuously is remarkable!!! <laughing>

I know I should walk even, but the weather is so hot and muggy here. Last winter, I only turned the heater on twice. Once for just a few hours, the other, just thru two cycles. Live near Corpus Christi.

I have decided, pretty much, to get a psychological support service dog, to get me out of my apartment, get me walking some, and interacting some with others. I have been aching for another dog for so many years. I generally am not aware of loneliness, but when it crushes in on me, I crave unconditional love in a warm furry body.
