Default oprah show

Hi,
It's our first cool day -- 65 degress F. It will warm up to 75 later. And this is just for one day. But still....

The cold depresses me. Always has for some reason. It reminds me of how far away we are from the summer.

I watched Oprah's show last night about a woman with clutter in her house. Part two of the show will be on today. The Oprah people spent 8 weeks and several teams of people getting all the stuff out of the house. It was amazing.

My heart broke for that woman because two psych-type people were trying to help her by making her make a decision about each item. They said if they just hauled everything away on trucks, it will not solve the problem because she would start collecting again.

My hubby and I have too much junk. I wish that we could live freer.

I've seen show's like that, were people just keep getting things and can't throw anything away. I wonder why they feel the need.

Also, people that get so many pets, they think they are helping them, yet they don't take care of them as they should, so they are usually sick, due to lack of food, water, no shots and the homes are usually very dirty. They take them away to the ASPCA to get them well and find them good homes.

It's all so sad.

mari, did you see part 2?

i think she might be ok. i think having her family there means more to her than the stuff she kept buying. giving her special things a place of honor. finding things like her father wallet that meant so much to her. it sounded like her family will come more now that they can get into the house.

the sale of the stuff...$13,000.

Hi everyone.

I've still got my nasty cold. Today I used a $20 earned coupon towards my grocery bill so I am rather happy about that. I'm looking forward to the big dinner on Thanksgiving that I have planned for myself.

It will be a very quiet Thanksgiving here, just me and my mom and dogs and cockatiels. Christmas will be the same.

Guess I will watch the Macy's Day parade too.

Hi,
I did see part two.
I was astonished at how much stuff she had bought over the years. Most of it was still in the original bags from the store.

I think that not every hoarder collects brand hew stuff. Other hoarders simply collect stuff from garage sales or stuff they inherit when a neighbor moves out and such.

I sort of wish Oprah did more stories about regular people -- not about a family that moved into a
three car garage 30+ years ago and where the wife had enough money to shop often.

I did appreciate the Oprah guy saying that people who hold on to things from the past or who save things in case they need them in the future do not live fully in the present.
