Default Anybody shopping?

Tonight/Fri near 8:30 pm I went looking for a picture frame for a baby. One of my students is in a local hospital in the high risk maternity ward for the next six weeks for high risk pregnancies and I said I would go see her.
My sis said I need to bring a picture frame designed for a baby photo. (She and I have 100% trust each in other about gift ideas.)

I went to five (5) stores and found nothing remotely suitable. I have to go out again tomorrow.

I'm getting tired of visiting folks in the hospital.

Heart heya shopper!

Hey, Mari

I hate shopping. especially for jeans but thats beside the point. i understand that sense of fatigue and frustration not finding what i need/want. especially when i set out thinking it isn't going to be like mining for diamonds.

hospital visits are hard. especially when you're not feeling good. you don't have to stay long. also, it might be better than you expect. you might find some comfort in seeing your friend as well as vice versa. i don't think the gift is a must also. you are a gift. and your going there. objects are secondary.

nor a particular gift. what about a little bouquet or a little heart cushion or some other little thing like that; maybe you can just go out and let yourself go with what feels right, rather than seek a particular object.

then again, perhaps you have decided it shall be so, in which case i wish you good luck.

has she asked that you be present for the delivery? that would scare me i think.

i wish the best for your friend and her child.

i hope your visit goes ok.

waves...i think i need to add the trigger icon to your post. EEEEEK trying on jeans!!!!

forget it. i would rather buy a pair and try them on at home. take them back if i have to.

i hate mall shopping. blech. people in rotton moods. i would be one of them! i try and do any shopping at odd hours. when the stores first open or after lunch time. but NOT right after thanksgiving.

i do love to go to resale/mission type of shops. i have found some pretty good stuff. lots of vintage and antiques. they make great gifts too.

have you tried a hallmark store for the frame?

I used to love shopping but especially for the holidays I despise going out to the stores. So crowded and people are ushy.

So I internet shop for the holidays.

Mari, not that youhave the time to wait for deliveries but I often have found some good frames here.

Like Curious said Halmark is always good too!

Default Vote against the baby picture frame

The hospital's own gift shop will have baby-oriented frames. But I have a suggestion - if she's going to have a high-risk birth, you might not want to give her a baby present now but wait until after the baby is born and it's clear he/she will survive and be healthy. Perhaps instead give her something that is focused on her own health and comfort - fragrant lotion, magazines, etc

Shopping is awful this time of year! How do stop yourself from spending thousands of dollars?!?!? I've been avoiding the Black Friday sales and malls because I don't trust myself at all.

I agree with Shelley about the frame. I think I'd want to wait a little longer
to take the baby frame.

Maybe even a nice book would be a good idea.

Something that can occupy the mom to be for a while.

I have been doing some shopping but then if I don't get started I wont
have the things I need.

So its like I have no real choice.

You ladies are great.

Thanks for the sympathy about the shopping.

When the student called me a few days ago, I asked her if she needed anything. She said, "a sign."

My younger Sis is into Feng Shui. She suggested a photo frame made up of the earth element -- ceramic or wood but no metal. The no metal was hard to find.

I found what I needed at Hallmark -- great tip, Curious.
Then when I got to the hospital my student was sleeping. I left a note with the package and talked to the nurses.

One nurse explained something about water breaking and protecting the placenta -- stuff I didn't want to know about. I choose to limit the medical information I pour into my brain.

I hear you about buying a different kind of present. Really I do.
But I didn't listen. The picture frame felt right for the mother to have.
I'll bring magazines next time I go.
Yeah, I know that I am a goof ball. Sorry.

Oh and if the girl said, A sign then you brought the perfect thing.

Because she is wanting something like this.

I unfortunately had to spend almost $400 on a new computer thanks to the old one dying on Saturday.
Luckily I like the new one. It was also a good thing it died mid-afternoon after all the rushes happened.
