Yeah, I'm confused too, but that used to happen a lot when I had active Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Hmmmmm... that makes me wonder... about myself. had many 'viruses' where the sx were that type of temp oscillations and feeling all broken up... but never developed typical cold sx of a URI (tho it ALSO happens to me with a non-bacterial URI)

is there a test for CFS?

is there a way you can tell or a doc can tell if that is in fact becoming "active" again?

This is kinda timely for me...
I really enjoy exercising. I chuckle every time I type out that sentence.
A few years ago...it would have been the opposite I assure you. However, I needed to lose weight and forced myself. I accidentally discovered that exercising regularly was very helpful for depression symptoms.
However, I am prone to migraines and fatigue. Too much...and I get headaches, severe fatigue, muscle pains and might be in bed for three days. I have learned to pace myself.

The last few days I have had a sore throat. I am almost panicked 'cause I know in my heart that too many days w/o exercise could spell depression woes. So, two days ago I felt a little better and went to the gym even though I had a little baby fever. This was the wrong move. That night, my cold got a lot worse. Yesterday, I had to spend the entire day in bed nursing a worse cold and today is so-so. It's like spinning my wheels here.

I'm taking it easy again today. If I don't have a fever tomorrow, I might go to the gym tomorrow and do 50% of my normal routine.

Hopefully, I'll be back in the game in a day or two. No rush.

I too believe that it is important to "listen" to the body and to make adjustments accordingly.

Hi Mari,

Take care of yourself, try to sleep and hang in there, it should get better. I would definitely talk to your tdoc about upping your klonipin, see if that doesn't help you sleep when you really need to. Other then that I don't know what to offer, beyond sympathy for being anxious upon awaking in the dark when it's still too early to be called morning yet. I hope you feel better soon.

Doctors -- and the whole medical profession as far as I am concerned -- still stink at this so i laughed when I read your posts about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
It has been recognized since the 1980s by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and yet we have no good way to diagnose it except by exclusion pretty much.

And many many docs still do not recognize it at all. This refusal to recognize it even goes for people who practice alternative medicine.

And, no, I am not bitter at all about the jerks who ignored me years ago when I was very ill.

http://www.cdc.gov/cfs/cfssymptoms.htm

Quote:
The fatigue of CFS is accompanied by characteristic symptoms lasting at least six months. These symptoms include:

-difficulties with memory and concentration
-problems with sleep
-persistent muscle pain
-joint pain (without redness or swelling)
-headaches
-tender lymph nodes
-increased malaise (fatigue and sickness) following exertion -- this one is important I think. When I did something like go out of the house for groceries I had to rest up afterwards for a few days.
-sore throat

Other Symptoms

The symptoms listed above are the symptoms used to diagnose this illness. However, many CFS patients may experience other symptoms, including:

-irritable bowel
-depression or psychological problems (irritability, mood swings, anxiety, panic attacks)
-chills and night sweats
-visual disturbances (blurring, sensitivity to light, eye pain)
-allergies or sensitivities to foods, odors, chemicals, medications or noise
-brain fog (feeling like you're in a mental fog)
-difficulty maintaining upright position, dizziness, balance problems or fainting
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_fatigue_syndrome
Quote:
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is one of several names given to a poorly understood, highly debilitating disorder of uncertain cause/causes, which is thought to affect approximately 4 per 1,000 adults in the United States and other countries, and a smaller fraction of children.

The disorder is marked by chronic mental and physical exhaustion, often severe, and by other specific symptoms, arising in previously healthy and active persons.

Despite promising avenues of research, there remains no objective assay or pathological finding which is widely accepted to be diagnostic of CFS. It remains largely a diagnosis of exclusion, made on the basis of patient history and symptomatic criteria, although a number of tests exist which can help aid diagnosis.

I've been dx'd with Lupus and Fibro.
However, every time I read those CFS symptoms I get antsy. I have most of them. I suppose these things can overlap.
I have learned that a VERY positive attitude, moderation in all things, getting rest when I need it and the ability to not let folks who are clueless bug me is most helpful.

Default slept until after 10:00 pm

Hi,
The good news is that I slept straight until after 10:00 pm. I figure I got over 6 hours of sleep. I feel good.

The other news: changing my sleep pattern is not easy.
