Default Quandry in the next few hours!

I think I may have mentioned that a week ago, I went and signed up for a job interview for seasonal work at the mall. That interview is now for about 2 1/2 hours from now. I have a fear about jobs. I always seem to quit them. I can't stand being told what to do in a job situation (choir is different; judo is different). I HAVE to show up for work. I HAVE to do this or that there. I can't stand that. Last job I had, I did show up on time (just before 6 a.m.) and stayed the 3 hours. It was just a trial, so I never got paid. But I never went back- mostly because the people there were idiots and annoying AND the boss SCREAMED at one of the managers behind his office door, not far from where I was working. I figured I'd be screamed at sometime, so I wasn't about to put up with that. I can think of two jobs where I just left. Walked out at lunch or whenever and never came back. It makes me feel "free". It makes me feel like nobody knows where I am- and I love it. I am now in MY world- not anybody else's.

So I have this job interview at 1:30 and I'm afraid to go. I know I could use the money and "something to do" and that its only until January, but I got the application and interview time on that day that I was trying to put my entire life together in one day- job, house, husband....

Hi,
It can't hurt to go. It may end up in your favor and you will like it and meet nice people. You won't know unless you go. Yet, if you aren't up to it, then don't. There are always other jobs.
Good Luck if you go. Keep posting.

Hugs, Nikko

Well I dressed up in my nicest casual clothes and went. Turns out it was a group interview so there were about 8 or 9 of us there all sitting around one of their couches, dressed similarly. (Furniture store.) We all gave our answers and basically it was just a friendly chat with people we just met. Other people said they were there because their kids had flown the nest and they needed something to do, or students looking for extra cash- a hodgepodge. When they asked us to tell our name, why we want to work at that store and something different about ourselves, I said that I do webwork and teach judo. The usual comment then was given, "I won't make you angry then!" (Har har. ) The managers were really nice and upbeat and said she would notify people in about a week. Actually- that was the best interview I think I've ever had!

Well wouldn't you know.... I got the job! She called me tonight.

I went to a friend's house to watch a movie I love after having dinner- platonic male friend- and then Christopher IMed wanting to know what I was doing so I told him about my job! He said we should take a walk tomorrow night after he gets home from work while his daughter is at rehearsal, and I did stop by his place for about 10 minutes just to get a hug. He looked so darned proud and happy.

My 2-hour psych. appointment is tomorrow from 2 to 4. That will be interesting. I have no idea what you'd do for 2 hours except fill out paperwork! I must've done this before at some point, but I started seeing my old psych. dr. in 1997 and I have no idea now.
