Default Crummy day at work

Hello,

My boss is supposed to be retiring in a few months.
She decided to leave for good next week instead (to have surgery and rehab).

This means that she is dumping a lot of work on my team.
But instead of simply saying "good bye," she is being her usual controlling and manipulative self on the way out. We have had meeting after meeting about how to do her work.

As far as I am concerned, she either needs to hand over the work and let us do it our way, or hold on to it and do it her way from home.

I am tired of dealing with control freaks.

Finally, today I had enough. I am tired of her.
I told the team that they could manage very well without me.
I have saved the boss and the team many times in the past.
Not this time. I am saving myself.
And I feel good.

I don't blame you one bit Mari, I wouldn't appreciate her acting like that either. I think you did the right thing, though you did not go as far as quitting right? I would worry about you if you did, it's so hard to find jobs in this economy. Take care whatever happens, and remember that this boss lady is on her way out and bound to not go quietly.

Hi, Pam,

Yes, I still have my job.

I quit being involved in TWO big projects that she created out of the mess she is making by leaving early. It would have been a tiny bit of extra money, but that boss has taken much from me in sanity over the years.
I don't want to put my stability at risk by stressing myself out for two made up projects -- especially when she is not even going to be working with us anymore and won't have any power over me.

My buddies and I are pretty sure she has narcissistic personality disorder.
Working with her has been very difficult.
She loves to create chaos. I am tired of picking up the pieces for her.

Maybe you can throw her a going away party and not invite her to it!

I am glad that you did stick up for yourself...
what ever little extra Money isn't worth losing your sanity.

Mari, I like what Bizi said, "throw a party for your boss and don't invite her." You handled it well.

hooRAY HOORAY...you are really on the path of change...this was a biggie...you should be so proud of yourself and it definitely calls for a celebration. Keep on doing things like this when the situation pops up and I bet your sleeping problems will gradually abate.

Thursday really was a weird day. I am choosing to put it behind me.

Before I went to work on Thursday, I knocked down a little angel decoration that had been hanging over my bedroom door for a year and a half. I felt that that the angel falling could be a symbol of how my day might go and how I might need to refocus.

I think that bipolar and the years I lived with CFS have taught me to be aware of signs. I have worked very hard to know when enough is already too much.

On Friday night when I went out to my car, it wouldn't start. Battery dead. Had left the lights on Thursday. (Hubby gave me a jump and I went to friend's house to talk about clothes and food and her kitty cats and such.)

Whoah.

Sooo glad that Thursday is behind me.

Sooo glad that I made the decision to let go of the boss and her issues.

Thanks for your support.

Friday was good.
Saturday will be better.

May we all have better days.

Mari
