Default We lost electricity for 5 -10 seconds and

We lost electricity for 5 -10 seconds and I got a little freaked out in the dark -- not as much as I would have in the past but the loss of electricity weirds me out.

I thought about how much crap is on the floor (time to call a cleaning service and haul it all out to the curb) because it would be hard to walk around in the dark.

Usually before hurricane season I make a big effort to clean my place -- that way we are prepared to get around in the dark and know where stuff is supposed to be. I think that the brief darkness freaked me out because it reminded me of hurricane times.

So I did not go to bed yet. I needed to get over my anxiety issues I suppose.

Red face

Oh golly mari,
I don't like power outages, surges either....afraid we will lose our computer, etc... even though we have a power surge strip...still worry about that.
Sorry about the anxiety, having a plan helps that...I think you are right about getting prepared for hurricane season as it is just around the corner....
us too! I think we are going to get some plywood this year from some friends who are moving back east...have to figure out how to put them up as we have a brick house.

Lightbulb Power surge strips don't always work right.

I lost a whole computer during a tornado warning. I shut it off...the surge came the next day, when I turned it back on, it burned out the power pak.

Now we have APC surge protector...it is MUCH better.

(and BTW we have no water today AGAIN... this is the 4th time in 3 wks.)
not fun.

We lost everything on that burn out...the harddrive was not retrievable!

Sending hugs.

I can totally relate. I am not thinking it fun. We go through those all
the time. But then thats the fun of living in the rural area I live in.

We had the ICE storm and then the mess a lot of years ago that
just all the sudden. We lost everything for 3 weeks +. They
had to bring in lots of help to redo all the wiring to give us electricity.

This was really about 17 years ago. So I really remember this.

Ehheee. My poor sons at the time, they had to go 3 weeks into
the summer, because even though it was march they lost 3 weeks
of school.
