Default Question?

I experience highs and lows of bipolar disorder but have not been diagnosed as such because my doctors think it is related to something else.

Is anyone here also diagnosed with OCD? I have an odd form of OCD in which I seek reassurance from others (IRL) as a compulsion. This kind of makes me cling to those people that are the most reinforcing (It usually is a person in a position of authority for some reason). Of course, this has caused me to cling to my T. NOW I'm going to have to deal with the compulsions on my own in order to get rid of them. Anyone out there like me? Thanks.

Default Ocd

Hi,
Welcome.
OCD can be part of a personality disorder or trait.
Or it could be part of anxiety perhaps.
Do you have racing thoughts?

Regarding bipolar: how is your sleep?
Are you on any medications?

I tend to seek reassurance from others. Like to make sure I was going to be ok or that I am all set for the plan I had plan. Stuff like that.

oh and making sure the door is locked! That is a biggy for me.

I honestly have never heard of OCD and the constant reassurance bit. I am Bipolar, definately mood swings, or as you put it , the highs and lows. But Im perplexed about the reassurance bit, because I also have OCD and I certainly don't ask for reassurance about anything. I think someone else posted about a personality disorder, which would definately fit the symptom better. But in my honest opinion I would get a second opinion from a different doctor. Don't be afraid to go outside the box. I had a dr I really liked, but was doing nothing for me. I hated having to get that second opinion, but I think it literally saved my life. I have a dr now who gave me her personal cell number to call her with any problems day or night. And I have, and she's always answered. After all you are paying them, if you are not getting diagnosed properly, which you seem to think you are bipolar, but have not been diagnosed yet.....what ya waiting for??? With all good intentions your way, and bunches of hugs, find another doctor!!!!!
