Wow, I am in awe of the way some of you function after getting
so little sleep.

I know at times, I don't sleep much either. But I always have a
reason, and its never insomnia like yours.

Well I have an occasional night I can't sleep, but usually because
I slept to late during the day. Or took to much of a nap.

My sleep patterns are not even patterns...O think it is mind over matter in one way...too much matter in the mind.
I try to create a mood, but often fight it.

On a good day, I know that the day is done. I accept what I did not do and plan for tomorrow instead of beating myself up. Mostly over house work and bill paying. I spend far too much time on the computer and sleeping in the day time....I nap when I can.

But, when it is bed time, I know I ahve to shut off the TV, not get interested in movies, then the next one and the next one.
I have to let go of thoughts of being vaunerable when I am sleeping. I can;t protect myself or my family.....will I wake up, have bad dreams.....

so to get the best shot, I take something for the pain, if it is Advil, valium for spasms, biofreeze rollon rub. I mostly sleep in my recliner, so I like a soft under blanket. Pillow under my feet and legs. I rub some nice smelling lotion on my arms and hands. Maaling a sancuary of my sleeping area.

I sleep better when I know someone is awake. so I tend to stay awake until dh or ds get up....My Katie is like that. It comes from the threats, stalking and assult from my 50 yr old brother over the last four years.

Night time is a bad time to reflect on problems. there is nothing I can do about them. No one to talk to, no agencys to contact for information, it is dark, eyes play tricks, noise can alarm...
And it Pi$$es me off as I was a cop working night shifts and fearless, I knew there were explanations to noises and shadows, not alarmed....

But, my best night sleep. after the hot tu. Oh my gosh, totally tired, warm to the bone, relaxed.

OH my new discovery. I was talking to Befuddled the other night, having a emotional day. We talked about tea. When I went out to make a cup I noticed that my last refill of BioFreeze had a sample what I thought was tea.
It was calm...I don;t know the rest. Actually it was a powder that fizzed, razzberry lemon flavor.

OMG, I thought the taste was Ok, but the effect was heavenly. I got comfortable covered up, rolled over adn out like a light!
I never fell asleep so well or long. I wish I had more and will ahve to search the Internet for it.

It really did work.

Di,
I can related to those feelings of feeling vulnerable and not wanting to sleep.

I liked reading your night time routine.

When it comes to sleeping, I haven't had a FULL NIGHTS REST for at least a month now. I was on temazepam 15mg and initially i would fall asleep, but wake up about every 2 hours. I was on it for 2 weeks and no improvement so they up the dosage to 30mg and now I'm waking up about maybe twice in the night.

I'm also taking Cymbalta 60mg in the morning, and Abilify 5mg in the evening.

anyone else like this??? im losing my mind over here

Well, last night I was not able to go to sleep until 4:30am, but was able to sleep for about 5 hours. Called my doctor and she added another 150 trazedone for tonight and for me to call her in the morning. During the day Im on Lithium, which for me is working very well. Im able to function, stay moderately stable and I don't have any horrid side effects. So tonight hopefully, the extra trazedone will help. My dr is wonderful, I do truly love her, she gave me her cell number so I can reach her day or night at any time and she always answers and helps me through. I've been on probably about 50 different med changes since March of this year, trying to find the right combination and dosage. Prior to this insomnia episode, I was sleeping beautifully on just 8mg of Klonopin and 15mg of remeron. There wasn't anything to trigger the insomnia, as my dr put it, my body chemistry gets "used to" meds rather quickly, therefore they just stop doing what they are supposed to do. I thank everyone for their support, its nice to have people who have been there, or are there and understand. I ended up sleeping on the sofa last night and woke up about 9:30 this morning to find my cat on my chest, and my husband on the floor next to me. I feel blessed to have this kind of support. Once again thanks to everyone for their suggestions, which I will ask my doctor about, and best wishes for everyone.

I FINALLY SLEPT LAST NIGHT!!!!!! That is a big HOO-RAH. I called my doctor this morning, at her request, and she is now giving me the option of increasing or decreasing my trazedone depending on how I sleep. I usually get tolerant after a couple of weeks, so if two trazedone, along with everything else is working, then I can stick with that. If I start to over sleep, then I can cut one out. If I don't sleep enough, then I can add another one. I've been on 4 150's a night before, so there is a lot of leeway that Im happy about. Im also happy that she is letting me have some control and not have to call her everyday with the outcome. So to sum it all up, Im sleeping very sound once again and I have some options if it doesn't work. I asked her about getting off the ambien, but she was not going to budge on that one just yet.
