Default Has anyone been afraid of trying new meds?

I am afraid of taking my meds. I really am afraid to take them? Has anyone ever felt the same way?

Fevah

( I know this is kind of dumb but I am seriously horrified)

Yes. At different times in my life,I've been scared to take some of my medicines.

Thank goodness many of these medicines work well. BF

Red face

lamictal is a safe medication...start at the lowest dose 25mg for at least a week then titrate up as your doctor prescribes, you can call on monday to have them call into your pharmacy the correct doses and increases for you.
The only real side effect that could happen to you which is VERY rare is a rash so call your pdoc immediately if you get a rash.
Many folks take lamictal and it has been a wonder drug for me.
I hope that it works for you and helps to control your mood swings like it is supposed to do.
It is scarey trying new medications but this is where you must trust your pdoc and take the chance and try something new.
You are jsut starting on the path of medication trial and error...so hopefully and maybe this might be the only medication you will try and it may be effective for you.
I wish you peace.

Hi, Fevah,
When I was young and sick (in my 20s) I would take anything that they through at me. I was willing to do whatever the pdocs suggested.

I've changed now a bit. But we are allowed to go through changes.
The best advice I ever heard was to start a brand new med in the morning and not the night in case I felt weird on it -- that way it was still day time and I could still call someone and get some help -- btw, I have not needed to call anyone like that.
Also I like to try new meds on the weekend -- so that they don't interfere with work.

Good luck.
Mari

I'm glad that you are over that fear. We do need medication most of the time for these type of things. Hang in there. BF
