Trig Who is the pdoc? me or her? And why the rush?!

I got a call from my pdoc's RN today. I have been on the Lamictal 50mg for at least three weeks now. She called to tell me that I can take 100mg. When I heard her say that I asked her if she knew that I was only taking 50mg. And she said yes, and that I need to now take 100mg. Now I am not the professional here but common sense kind of tells me not to jump from 50 mg to another 50mg in one sitting. So I told the RN ABSOLUTELY NOT! I told her to prescribe me all 25 mgs and I am willing to take 75mg for three weeks so I am not jumping too quickly up the ladder. The nurse then had to call me back because she had to tell my pdoc I said no to 100mg. I got the call back and the pdoc agreed to let me have my way.

But still what is she trying to do???? Why the rush?? Does she have any idea how the meds can effect someone like me? She has to be out of her head to make me jump so quickly! I am not ready for that! Grrr roar!

Here's a chart about dosages - upping & lowering

there is probably others but this was the first I found about it.
http://www.rxlist.com/lamictal-drug.htm
about halfway down the page.

HI,
I think that some docs skip the 75 and go right to 100.

They titrate up in order to avoid the deadly but extremely rare rash that can be caused by Lamictal -- it has nothing to do with how you react to drugs -- they only do this based on the manufacturer's recommendation so that the manufacturer can avoid a lawsuit.

Still, the nurse should have been more willing to listen and maybe she should have tried to explain things to you better.

What gets to me is if I was not studying the medical field, if I was was completely ignorant to the medical field and laws, I would probably literally die by now. She wanted to jump me up from a 50 to 100mg in one sitting when SHE KNOWS how hypersensitive my body is. SHE KNOWS that she needs to be slow with uping my dosage. SHE KNOWS BETTER. And yet she fails to read my allergies, and she insists on jumping me up there.

I am not ok with that. If you are a doctor I expect you know what you are doing. I swear I have to be the doctor now. I have to be the one who says yes this can be done and NO THIS WILL HARM THE PATIENT. I should not have to do this. I should not have to know as much as an RN to get taken care of. This is total Bullocks. Completely inexcusable.
