Smile Happy Martin Luther king day!

WE are on the brink of history...that was our headline today of our little local news paper.
Barack Obama has a heavy challenge ahead of him.
As a citizen, I will be as supportive as I can be.
He is asking all of us to give input into problem solving, we can do this by going to his website and adding comments. I will try to post the link. This is very affirming that I as a single person can contribute ideas.

Dear Beth,
I've been very excited about this two -- I'm almost as caught up in it as I was the election.
Thank goodness the anticipation will be over on Tuesday.
I go to huffington post ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com ) to see pictures of what is going on since I don't have cable.

Did you see the HBO concert last night from the Lincoln Memorial?
I found out today that it played on NPR.
We can go to the HBO web site and play it from there now. The concert is two hours long I think.

Tomorrow is the big day, history in the making.

I will be watching it on TV.

I promised to meet someone at 12:30, so I only got to watch 1/2 hour of the inauguration. I thought his speech was lovely. I'm sure I will be able to watch parts of it, if not all if it, later this evening.

This thread calls out MLK Day. I am a collector of quotes. Ya know, when a person does this...they "know" which persons tend to have the "special" ones! And the ones by King are always special. Although I'm not sure if I have the wording exact, here is my favorite Martin Luther King quote (one that puts a tear in my eye):

"If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream."

Martin Luther King Jr.

Hi,

I watched the inauguration twice.
First I watched it by myself at home. Then I rewound the VCR and watched it with hubby.
We watched the first half of the parade and saw the folks from the Bonnie Brae Residential Treatment Center that I mentioned in the other thread.

Here is my favorite MLK jr quote:

And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land.

I'm sort of glad that this inauguration is almost over. It was driving some anxiety.

M.
