Went to go see a patient that I have been seeing for years, she recently moved to a nursing home from an assisted living facility but she had been suffering with alzheimers disease for years. I started tending to her toes when she was lucid enough to have meaningful conversations.....7-9 years later She deteriorated to having been fed because she no longer had the ability to feed herself.
very sad.
This has been a long journey for her family, sad to watch her decline.
I had walked into her room and the linens were all stripped, not a good sign. The nurse at the station said she had passed this morning.
Miss Lottie was her name and she was so sweet.
I will miss her.
That is the thing about my job...I get to care for them for years and then pass away.
I either call the family members and thank them for allowing me to care for them or send a note of sympathy.
I rarely go to funerals, maybe a calling if I must.
When my sister lost her little boy of 8 years old to an accidental overdose of pain meds some 10 years ago, that was the last funeral that I have attended. It was so sad...
Lotties family can rest now that their mother is gone.
I will remember her singing and her smiling face.
I love my job and can't think of a better way to assist the elderly.

Bizi, I can imagine how he family and Miss Lottie felt or your touch. My Dad had dd care for his feet, he did not want o be a burden to me I was so overwhelmed caring or every one.
He was so great ful she took time to evn get lotion and run his feet. What loving care for anyone.
I never knew of your sisters loss, how heart breaking, there is no greater loss then a child. I don't recall that I have been to a funeral either...been too difficult.

yes di, losing mathew was terrible for my family. It went to trial last year and was a hung jury. they are trying it again this year...I think....

Oh bizi you're one special lady, I really admire you for all you do to help people. I am so sorry to hear about your sister's little boy's passing. That had to be so difficult for your entire family. I'm really sorry. Just know I'm thinking of you a lot hun.
