HI,
Well, for the sake of argument a bit. Those leaf blower machines are astonishingly loud, burn lots of fuel (not green), and are not necessary for a few blades of grass. Those machines should be outlawed. (Not exaggerating. They are bad.) Doing the lawn in circles is amazingly irritating (as you pointed out in your post about the intermittent noise.) I'm SURE that 75% of the rest of the noise could be curtailed in some manner. I'm 100% sure that I am not the only one not happy. Three apts share a landing with me (4 total but there is a floor below and a floor above -- we are 2nd floor.) Across the landing from me in one apt live a bunch of pilots -- folks not sleeping a regularl night shift. On the other side of me lives a cop -- another person not necessarrily sleeping a regular night shift -- based on times I see his two cars in the parking lot.. I don't know the people in the 4th apt. We have nurses living here in the complex, bar tenders, . . . and so on. And what about folks with babies or other folks who are trying to catch sleep whenever they can? I'm annoyed. Then when someone moves out, we have chaos in the building for a day or so while the management noisily super cleans and rehabs the apt. I've thought about this a bit over the years, you can see. The tree cutting went on for two hours. Right now I hear a different machine but can't identify it. Then there is the normal noise from people living together in a large complex -- music, dogs, teenagers . . .This would not be the fault of management necessarily (room for debate about the music and the dog . . ) Unfortunately I live near the edge of the complex -- this means I hear noise from a nearby gas station too -- noises come out of that gas station all hours of the day but I notice them more at night. My threshold for noise tolerance has become low. M. |

Dear Waves,
We are moving soon, so not going to talk to management. I hear you about the pdoc/T explaining things -- as if knowledge and info is going to interact with the emotional response and calm things down. It can to a degree in the long run but not in the immediate. I'm writing in non sentences now as you can see. I'm trying to think how my current tdoc would approach an issue that can benefit from info. She does not always automaticallly take my side unless I am in a bad way -- in which case I need help not info. But I can't think of a situation at the moment. I'm going to bed. I hope that you are doing ok. M. |

Waves,
I didn't feel well when I was ranting about noize and generally being obnoxious. I apologize. Beth, Hubby hates this apt complex -- feels too crowded for him. We found another neighborhood. M. |

You did say you felt you needed to vent, and so you did. I didn't find it particularly obnoxious either. I guess i see no need for the apology, but appreciate the intent, anyway - it's ok, and i didn't take anything personally.
(Now... I was a leaf-blower machine in a former life, and let me tell you young lady, t'ain't no picnic....bla bla bla ) OK OK sorry, idiotic attempt at humor. Those machines DO make an amazing amount of noise, though, i agree. They sound like they blow gravel or sand or something, not air. I went to sleep... and even got to sleep... early tonight. with a concert of whiny music going on in the park below. woke up at some point with the concert either in a break or wrapping up, and there was DJ music on... playing what a feeling, first, and then maniac. come to think of it perhaps it was a car playing a loud stereo after the concert as i was not awake enough to really know. anyway all this outside my window at night. i didn't resort to plugs because i was so tired i was able to go to sleep even despite the whining folk player. also i didn't mind his guitar playing. i just didn't like the way he sang (weird pronunciation too). at the beginning of every song my brain kept tripping over itself "hearing" stuff in English - which nothing was - and having to resort itself out linguistically... that was interesting... or frustrating. what riles me the most - and town hall really oughtta protect us better in this sense - we should complain to the newly elected Mayor in fact - is that this concert STARTED at 11 pm. and it was in the town park which is completely surrounded by PRIVATE RESIDENCES. i do believe to play in that park they need permission from Town Hall. i was too ticked and too tired to post about it then. for some reason i woke up now that everything is quiet (go figure) and even still half-dark, although the birds have started up already. i was hungry. i just had cereal. i guess this means i will nap in the day again. sigh. Anyway, sounds good to be moving to a less "crowded" neighborhood. perhaps it will be less noisy as well. ~ waves ~ |

Waves,
An outdoor concert that started at 11:00? Maybe someone meant to start much earlier but ran 2 hours late or so. 'Such a shame that the music couldn't have been better -- might have compensated a bit for the rudeness of the time. M. |

And it was just a solo guitar & vocalist mic'd. But sound carries easy and the park is near residences! Imagine if it had been like a rock band with full percussion! Quote:
In any case, there should be a cut-off time for finishing, like midnight latest imo, where, even if you start late, you have to stop then anyway. Quote:
i hate complaining to officials here. but i really would like to complain to city hall and if i can get up the guts i will. part - but not all - of my hang up is that social services has met me regarding possible disability and so know of my dx and stuff... ugh. they probably wouldn't see me - different office, but still. someone there has to approve these concerts, and that someone should get some time limits set! ~ waves ~ |
