Hi,

I'm in a major bad mood. Sis called agitated about her husband and then got in a fight with me about HDTVs because she says I don't need one yet. Who is she. No really. Who is she???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!


I can't freaking believe that my sis yelled at me on the phone and then hung up on me.
I am stressed to the max and major sleep deprived and have a big day at work tomorrow and I don't have my projects finished tonight that I need tomorrow and I don't need her yelling at me.


The USA is supposed to go to digital broadcasting on Feb. 17, 2009. This switch was planned since the early 1990s during Clinton. This is only a concern to people who get their tv from an antenna with no cable.
We don't have cable and we are not planning on getting cable.


I told hubby a freaking year ago that we needed to get this tv stuff worked out. I ordered the free coupons for the converters that the gov gave out last year, but they expired. Who freaking reads fine print on a gov coupon to find out that they have to be used right away ????????
He will not let me go buy a tv or a convertor. He insists on taking care of it himself, and yet, he has not bought anything yet.


Tonight, after the major garbage from sis, I told him that I've had it. I want a new tv this weekend.
He can leave it in a box on the floor until Congress and Obama decide when the switch is going to happen.

The heck with everyone else. I'm taking a shower and going to bed soon I pray.
I've been tired and hung over for weeks.
And I can't sleep at night in the dark. I only want to sleep when the sun is up.
This makes it very hard to work.
Something is wrong with me and 20+ effing years of therapy and psychotropic meds have not helped.

Reporting from Washington -- President-elect Barack Obama today asked Congress to delay next month's planned switch to all-digital broadcast television, warning that the TVs of millions of Americans could lose their pictures because of major problems in the government's preparations.

In a letter to Congressional leaders, John Podesta, co-chairman of Obama's presidential transition team, urged that the Feb. 17 conversion date be extended. A major reason was the announcement this week by the Commerce Department that it had run out of money for a government program to provide $40 coupons for low-cost converter boxes to allow older TVs to receive the new digital signal.

i hope you are sleeping now. things always are better in the morning. i'm like you. i can not sleep when the sun is not out. If you can't sleep try to just lay down and take some deep breaths to relax.

I took an hour nap.
I feel like I cannot get enough sleep and when I do sleep it is not restful or just before I have to get up and be somewhere.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when I sleep.

I had horrid insomnia for many years. Maybe get 2 hours of restless sleep. Many times zero. Yep, fall asleep right when it's time to get up. Never anytime for my brain and body to recoup.

I can't tolerate RX sleep meds. The lowest dose and I lose a day of my life and still have medicine head on the 3rd day. Even the OTC, like Tylanol PM.

Melatonin, in a very low low dose saved my sanity. There are articles about Melatonin and bipolar. Have you ever tried it?

This TV stuff...ARGH. We have one TV that is HD ready.

But the big UH OH, is the who wall of TV's at the gym! Plus the one in the nursery. They wouldn't send the coupons to a business. I ordered ones for home.

What they didn't explain at the beginning of the program, is that they expired.

I had no extra money when they first came. About a month later I went to WalMart to use them. Sorry Mam....they are expired.

They won't replace them either. So the numbers they spout on TV are not correct. One of the local TV stations here has a forum/blog thing. Hundreds in my area have posted the same thing. Never got a chance to use the coupons.

Oh Mari, I am so sorry you got into a fight with your sister, that must have been awful. I am an only child so I don't know the feeling of having a brother or sister, but I am sure it's hard when you are fighting. I hope you two make up soon.

As for the television situation, if you have cable you are fine, but if you don't you will need those converter boxes on the TV's in the house that aren't compatable with digital TV signals. That those coupons expired is just ridiculous! What's th e point of giving them out if they aren't going to be usable for at least a MONTH, ridiculous....

I hope things get better soon for you, I worry about your insomnia getting worse and it sounds like it is. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Take care and keep on posting, it's helpful I think, to get it out and be supported by friends, so just keep on posting.

Hope you are sleeping by now. Sorry to hear about the argument with your sister, but I am sure that will pass.

One way or another your husband will have to give in, so you can have TV whenever the switch is made.

The coupons were good for 90 days.
But I didn't check until months later. I did not know I had to use them right away when I ordered them last Feb 08.
We don't have cable or a dish or anything like that.

I slept for 2.5 hours.

Now to go to work.

The Digital signal breaks down during severe weather-for us anyway {we have a pretty nice rooftop antenna}
{we did buy a new TV cause our older one got a minor zap during a storm and a few channels didn't come in anymore - weird}

It says they ran of of money to back the coupons.

I ordered 2 coupons for our other TVs way back but never got them at our PO box, when i checked the gov site they said I did get them but they were expired anyway.

there is an appeal section - but never got anything back from that.

So I ordered 2 more to my parents home address.
Guess it's a wait and see thing now...

Hi,
Hubby came home on Friday with a
23 inch TV and a fancy 360 degree electronic antenna.
We haven't taken it out of the box yet.
I thanked him.
I hope he sets it up when I'm at work or something so that I don't have to deal with it.

I saw the full moon tonight. It was lovely and big -- like last month's.
