Default Med Suggestions

I suffer from severe depression and type 2 Bi-polar disorder. I am currently taking Seroquel 200mg, Prisitq 50mg, and Vyvanse 50mg.

My psychologist is going to recommend to the psychiatrist that he add Abilify to my med lineup. Is there anybody out there with Bi-polar disorder on Abilify? I am curious of the success of this drug for my condition.

Also, if any of you have my same problems, what drugs are you taking and how effective have they been so far? I go back to the psych in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the input.

Red face

hi
are you taking the seroquel to sleep?
it is an anti psychotic class of meds. so is abilify.
Have you tried the lamictal yet?It has been a wonder drug for many folks, I think I might have mentioned this before.
sometimes it is a little slow on the weekends but others will follow....

HI,

I've never been on it.
I've heard some people on the board and in real life say that it can be activating -- I'm not sure if it only happens in the early stages of taking the med.

I know someone w/ bipolar illness who takes Abilify and has had positive results w/ it. However, when she first started taking it, it upset her stomach. She had to take Pepto Bismal for a few days at the beginning. Now, she has no problems. It had an interesting effect for her...it was sort of stablizing and calming at the same time. A good medication for her overall. I think there was a small amount of weight gain, but not much. Not nearly as much as with other medications she has tried. She also takes Lamictal, which was an excellent choice for her. No weight gain and to the best of my knowledge, no side effects. When she made this decision, she reduced the Abilify dosage, but she still takes a small dosage of Abilify. It seems to help her keep calm/stable and continues to be part of her treatment. Wishing you well.
