Default Job Interview

I have a job interview Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. I haven't worked since 1995! Wish me luck. Any tips for me would be appreciated. I moved yesterday and already have a job interview.

Default WHole New Year and life

BF,
It is a good start, a new start. With a fresh move, and now a job potential, seems good things to begin right at a perfect time.
http://interview.monster.com/archives/tips/

This is one for a typing test. Before I got this job I interviewed at a temp agancy and had to do some testing on the computer. I also did at Salle Mae. When I was in college I had a Excell workbook and it really helped, I had a 95%.
http://www.jobweb.com/Resumes_Interviews/default.htm
I sent a PM but here are a few links to tips I found emotionally supportive and great ideas when I had my interview.

Being informed as far as reading the sites, look up the company on the internet, helps giving you a background and comfort with the employer.

BF, the one thing to consider is telling the employer if you have a disability. 1. SOme do get tax breaks, also the biggest thing is if you have a disability and can not get to work due to its flare, yuour job is protected, unlike if you don;t say anything. I learned that from Soc security.

Something as simple if on the application it ask if you take medications>? not sure if they are allowed unless it is a job you can't. You can say that you have XXXXX diagx but take medication and have it under control.

IF you need a resume, we can do one up good, even not working since 1995...
I am wishing you the very best of luck.
Di

EDITED TO ADD
I just saw your post about your resume, but if any one ever needs one, I have great easy software.

Thank you Di,

I'm gonna go to those sites when I'm more alert. I'm still recuperation from moving. I didn't know if you don't tell the employer about your disability that if I have a flare up it would go against me. That is good to know.

That is just great.

that is a long time, but things haven't changed in many regards

- wear something you feel good in... dress adequately - but comfortably.

- bring a notepad, pen, and resume. i sometimes write prepnotes for myself on the pad too.

- focus on your strengths, beforehand and during the interview. during the interview put forth those which you think are most relevant to the job. i used to put these thoughts in my prepnotes.

- be honest about your experiences - but careful not to undermine these. think of them as treasures.

- interview them, as well as letting them interview you. This shows you're serious and lets you walk away with more info about the job also. Questions I have asked in the past include: more details on the position (if description murky), compensation package esp. benefits (mental, dental, eye bla bla bla) coverage, bonuses), about professional growth potential (inside promotion), educational subsidies. i put my questions in prepnotes too. definitely ask for details on health coverage.

best of luck - and happy new year - if i don't pop in before then.

One other thing that could help your mind set.

Treat every interview as practice. As a teaching tool how to get better and better at it.

Also treat job hunting AS YOUR REAL JOB. Until you are employed, the search for the right job is your only job. Take it seriously. Make goals you can reach. Like trying to hand out so many resume's a day or getting so many interviews a week.

If you walk into your first interview with that kind of mindset, you may just nail it dead on.

I will be cheering for you!

Heart Hi

Just thinking of you... wishing you well for your interview... for me it is already "tomorrow" as we are 6 hours ahead of east coast US. So it's tuesday 4AM here (I tend to be a night owl).

I hope your computer has stopped crashing.

Make sure you get good sleep.

Check in tomorrow and let us know how it went.

~ waves ~ wishes you the best
