Ribbon Anyone reading The Brain That Changes Itself?

Hi there, I think this is one of the most hopeful books about the advances in medical science and healing *all* types of injuries or illnesses, including pain.

It gets a bit detailed, but if you can manage that, it's worth it.

Here is the jest of it:
Science believed for a very long time that the brain was hard wired. Meaning if a part of the brain that controls a function of the body, doesn't work right anymore (or ever did), for example from injury, or illness, that that part of the body would never heal.

Now they know (and have for some time but science hates to admit when it's wrong) that if one part of the body, and or brain, is not functioning correctly, another part of the brain will take over the job!

For example, a stroke patient has brain damage. The brain can relearn speech or any other activity such as walking, using a *different* part of the brain! This is huge!

I would love to talk with anyone reading it.

The name and author are: The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge, MD.

Hoping it provides you with hope as it is me.

I've not read it but I've actually recommended it to others based on my sister's opinion of the book. She found it fascinating and said it would be a very hopeful book for people with brain injury.

Sorry, I haven't read it so I can't discuss it. I just thought I'd second the book recommendation, from a second hand opinion.
