I'm currently working my way through Season 2, and by working I mean enjoying thoroughly.

One my favourite scenes to date has to be a Draper family picnic in what looks like a park. As the family is about to leave, Don Draper crumples his beer can and casually lobs it away. This set me on edge somewhat, but was followed up by Betty Draper "cleaning up" by shaking all the rubbish generated by the picnic off their blanket onto the grass, then everyone walking away. The shot lingered on the debris that remained in the otherwise pristine parkland, and had me both amazed and amused.

Yes, that is a painful scene! I also don't like the parenting of Don's kids after the divorce... Betty turns really cruel! The first 2 seasons she showed some empathy towards Sally, but that changes radically in seasons 3 and 4. It is very difficult to watch those scenes for me at least now.

The feminist issues in this series can be painful to watch. Some days I get upset watching the demeaning situations, the women have to go thru!

But the sum of the show is positive IMO. Certainly does illustrate how far we've changed in just 30-40 yrs!
