Default Doc Martin

I saw Doc Martin on a PBS special and decided to search it out on Netflix. I got all 4 seasons. We just finished the last one. I swear, I am HOOKED! I want more!

its a british tv drama about a surgeon who suddenly became phobic around blood and had to leave his practice. They assigned him to a small fishing village and he is very stern and by the book, while the locals are very small town, in your face, know your business style folks. They walk into his practice and expect to sit and have a cup of tea, or to be seen now for a cold, without an appointment.

VERY funny show. Reminds me greatly of the town I live in. Was quite an adjustment. Has anyone else seen this series? I was surprised I liked this british TV show so much, but we became quite hooked.

I also enjoyed this series. It just finished another rerun on one station, and about to "premier" on another. I'm sure I'll be watching out for any episodes I haven't seen before.

Yes, this is a good series, shown now by WGBH (Channels 2 & 44) in the Boston, MA area, on a weekly basis. There is good ironic humor that Doc Martin is a doctor afraid of the sight of blood, as some of the other characters are afraid also afraid of things which are a basic part of their occupations.

Also amusing is his receptionist, who is always trying to become a real nurse and doing more, such as writing her own incomplete prescriptions. Another good character is the beautiful school teacher who obviously adores him, despite the fact that he never responds to her.

Anything Martin Clunes is in is well worth watching.

Default I love British shows

I was raised watching Doctor Who, so you can blame that on my nerdy dad.

I've only seen one or two episodes of this show, but it looks good. My mother is OBSESSED with it. She always knows when our PBS station is airing and episode and she vanishes to her room to watch it. My dad finds it hilarious, since my mother has never really shared our love of British shows...she barely laughs at Monty Python

I paid for a membership to AcornTV just so we could watch season 5. LOVED IT Now that I have the membership I will have to watch more british shows since I can grab most of them.

I do love how many have issues that prevent them from doing their jobs properly. The cop who is a social phobic. The fisherman that gets seasick, the nurse who is terrified of needles, the fish fryer that is allergic to the batter, and the restaurant owner who use to do plumbing, but now eats his way thru the profits. The gang of locals that are clueless and bumbling when they go to see the doc.

A truly must see!
