I have always liked him as an actor ....first saw him in Sense and Sensibility.
I think the steely blue eyes tend to sometimes be unnerving

Oh, I missed 4.... I couldn't understand one word Violet mumbled while ill... and I do miss some dialog these days... losing some hearing I guess. My left ear is damaged from childhood (either high fevers the doctor said, or the abuse I received at times). The nerve is mostly not working. At times I have loud buzzing/ringing in that ear too).

The accents are tough and they mumble sometimes. Some of our regular shows are tough too. Elementary (the US version of Sherlock Holmes)...for example, has very whispery dialog sometimes (and they talk too fast for me).

Thumbs up

Elementary is an unusual show....but I do like it!

Just got turned on to House of Cards....wow!

I'm almost shocked that I REALLY like Downton so much and totally shocked that my husband likes it very much. We watched the first episode not expecting much, and we were totally hooked from that moment on!!!!!

I have the same problem. My left ear has nerve damage and my hearing out of it is muffled at best.

If I try to watch anything in bed I have to lie so that my right ear is available and sometimes that's just not comfortable.

Between that and the hard-to-understand accents of some of the characters it can be maddening!

I wish they'd use sub titles even though they are speaking English.

Can you set your TV to"closed captions"? My Mom has hearing problems so we have captions on our TV. I also discovered, if you cannot find closed captions via the remote control that you get from your cable TV provider(if you have cable tv), the remote comtrol that came with your TV may have a way to set up closed captions. With he British accents, I find the captions really help.

Thank you, Diandra. My son is coming over today so I'll ask him to set it up if it's an option on my remote.

Default Downton Abbey

Season 4 Episode 8. Am I correct that that is the last one for this season? Everything I read says it is the finale.

Wink

Yes, I believe it is the last one for the US PBS audience for this season.

I usually look on IMDB...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1606375/...tt_eps_yr_2013

It shows the end of the 2013 season #4

They sometimes have interesting discussions on their forum for this show. Just scroll down to find it.
