The first book of Janet Evanovich's series about Stephanie Plum
has a movie trailer..... warning adult content. I am not moved by it... but Sherrie, as Lula looks pretty good. Debbie Reynolds? I wanted Betty White. meh? I thought Sandra Bullock would be better too as Stephanie! Just my opinion. See for yourself and see what you think? http://oneforthemoneyfilm.com/ Coming to US theaters Jan, 27, 2012

Thank you for sharing that trailer mrsD.
I've got 7 or 8 books in the Stephanie Plum series but I just haven't been able to get into them. I pick one up, read a few pages and lay it down again. I just cannot seem to get interested. I also have one of Evanovich's Barnaby books and I'd been thinking of giving up on Stephanie and trying Barnaby instead, but after seeing that trailer I've decided to give Stephanie another try, so thank you.

Koala... the first books were the best IMO.
As the series has evolved, the humor seems forced. Back when they first came out they were very unique and novel. But social norms and TV have changed all of us I think. I lost interest at about book 10 or so. This fellow who is playing Ranger? Doesn't move me at all. Morelli seems good though. I like this actor in other things. It took a LONG time coming to movie or TV... IMO. I watched the trailer a second time... since it was very slow to load for me. The second viewing was a bit better. I can remember laughing out loud during the first book. But no longer with the later ones.

I started the first plum book a few times and never got past the start , but then I got # 2 from the library and then had to go back and read #1 and was hooked , but yes they aren't as exciting as the earlier ones.
In my mind , Ranger & Joe are a lot hotter looking than those actors LOL I can easily picture Sandy Bullock as Stephanie too. I imagined the gramma as a thin wiry old lady.

I am totally disappointed with Ranger.... maybe he will be better in the whole movie? I think Debbie Reynolds is not a good enough actress, really. Betty White would have been much better.
I pictured Benjamin Bratt or The ROCK... as Ranger. At one point I thought Queen Latifah would be good as Lula... But Sherrie IS very funny, and I think can do Lula well. I'll wait for it to come out on DVD tho. I haven't read the last few of them, and I recall not even finishing one recently. That is the problem with series type books, then tend to fizzle out with time. Oh, and I see I put TV on this thread... should be book or movie! So sorry about that.

Oh gosh, how funny - I was going to say I usually picture The Rock as Ranger in my mind when reading the books!!!
I don't have any def finite person or actor in my mind for Joe though for some reason, just a conglomerate of hunky guys. I changed the thread title info to movie..

When the books first started, they were not a big thing yet.
Evanovich had a forum or blog, or whatever, and at one time everyone discussed who they wanted for the various characters. The Rock was the overwhelming favorite for Ranger. And since Ranger doesn't say much and just IS.... that is another + for the Rock IMO. But you know speculating on characters....I just finished the latest In Death book from J.D.Robb (Nora Roberts other name).. called New York to Dallas (our library has them all). So it reminded me of Eve Dallas....who could play HER in a movie? Then I started watching Castle on TV onDemand, and the actress Stana Katic would just be PERFECT. The minute I watched my first show of that series....BINGO... there was Eve.! LOL The character Kate Beckett on that show, is not quite as tough as Eve, but I think Stana could easily pull that off, as she is quite expressive on the TV show!

I haven't read many of the JD Robb books, got distracted and into more of the spy, espionage, stuff, like Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy and those types.
I think it's harder for me to read about regular people being killed and such, but spies, special ops and military I can mentally distance myself..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repairman_Jack The author is a doctor too! They are very readable. I think they are better than the chick books myself. I bought the last 5 I needed to read, our library didn't have (the earlier ones), on Amazon used and took on vacation. Hubby then got into them, and now Kevin likes them too! Not so Law and Order, but very different. I found Fatal Error at our library, and read that, and worked backwards thru them all over the last year. I just finished The Dark at the End, a couple of weeks ago. Now all that is left is the revised Nightworld (this one is pretty gruesome however). The original Nightworld was written 1992...but Jack became very popular so Wilson wrote a whole series about HIM, and now Nightworld will be changed and the final end to this saga.

I just looked at your link for The Repairman, mrsD and the plot for that is so similar to something I watched on the TV recently.
I have wracked my brain but cannot remember what the show was, and whether it was a series or a movie. In the show on TV there were 2 main actors, one of whom was in a wheelchair and the other was ex-mercenary. The non ambulant man foresaw crimes like murder, kidnap etc, and the ex-mercenary would go fix the crime before it happened. If I remember the name of the show I'll let you know.
