For some reason I started thinking about what old miners and prospectors have told me .. and in this case .. the book written by Mr. Hoover listening in on a years worth of coffee brakes .. at the bar "the Bloated Goat", South West New Mexico circa 1890.

I'll let you read the book about tender feet miners and Geronimo and tell you a few I listened to first hand.

Prospector 1988: Jarbidge, Nevada is actually Ja biez .. no "r" in an Indian Word. The sound of US troops shooting at them with a big fat brass cannon which they captured, placed in a cave, hid it with rocks and where it sits to this day.

Miners over a Lone Star Beer in the Terlingua, Texas Cinnabar District 1957: the Apache used cinnabar red ocher to paint their faces until they discovered .. they produced no more children from that date on and quit using it.

Same place different Miner: What he did to a cheating partner - they tried to borrow some adobe brick from a circular adobe bake oven used in the past to melt mercury from ore .. and discovered they weighed several hundred pounds each .. mercury still in them .. a gold mine. So, they bought the adobe bricks from who ever owned them .. for a song .. and they were to split the profits 50/50 and this miner discovered tire tracks and missing bricks.

He and his partner were at his bar at Terlingua on the banks of the Rio Grand, where we were sitting on the front porch while he told the story. He was drunk. We were not. He told how this Mexican walked across the Rio Grand and came up to them .. pulled out a six shooter and blew his partners brains out .. he handed him a $500 dollar bill .. and the Mexican slipped back into Old Mexico.

You watch T.V. and I'll chase life. I once was told by one College Professor I was an over achiever. I told her .. more or less .. she was driving a parked car.
