I know this thread is old but:

I have a Kindle Fire HD and I love it.

The reason I bought it instead of a regular tablet is because it is an eReader and I loved the thought of having all my books with me :)

However...

I mostly use it (besides for the internet) to buy used paper books straight from amazon :p

I love books. However having one in my hands and physically turning the pages with my fingers is enlightening. As well, it keeps me focused on one book at a time.

I love my Kindle Keyboard! I once was a English Major, had an astonishing amount of books, but with MS, 24/7 in a wheelhair,have use of only one hand so can't hold a book and turn pages or carry books but Kindle Keyboard is perfect for me in that my only complaint is because getting new books is too easy (60 second transfer), I order too many. But some are free or really cheap, so I do ok. I'm OK with using ebook versus "real" books. My kids consider themselves paper-free and use IPhones or their laptops. Both have unlimited access to my Kindle books or Amazon video or Netflix Instant View movies through them. I love my Kindle! I still have books in bookcases around the house but no one uses them. I think sometimes the kids think I'm a dinosaur!

Love the feel of a book in my hands. Paper books for me. :)

I got a kindle for christmas last year and I thought I would hate it but it's really grown on me, so much better than normal books.. Call me converted ;)

I had just purchased a new Kindle for reading and watching Netflix while resting. Then a nagging issue (EMF sensitivity) presented itself. I had been taking gabapentin for neuropathic pain (which I had used successfully in the past for short term neuritis) and was plagued by headaches. At first thinking it was the drug I tried different mfg.s with little or no relief. I then disconnected my WiFi and went to a direct connect router for my home network. HEADACHES GONE!!! Turned my Wifi back on and my headaches returned. Anyone else experience this?

PS The new Kindle HD w/bluetooth kbd is for sale.

Hi all.

While I agree with all of you, sadly technology does not. We are in an age where (in 100 years or less), there will be no hard copies of anything. All doctors will have tablets (they do now). Everything will be on clouds, hard drives, up in space, you name it.

Think of the movie Farenheit 451 (at least I think that was the name), where books were forbidden and at the end of the movie, People became the books, memorizing the written word.

We are heading for that kind of world. Not pretty
