Lightbulb The New Cosmos TV show:

This just started this week. It is OnDemand with Comcast too.

It is being shown on TWO networks... Fox on Sunday and NatGeo on Monday nights.

The fellow narrating it is a well know physicist and astronomer who is on TV sometimes. I've seen him on Fareed's GPS show on Sunday mornings. The last few minutes of the 1st show explain his connection to Carl Sagan, and why he is doing this remake.

So far the first show is like many one can see on The Science Channel these days, so the graphics were not really "new" to me.

But it is a very watchable show, and thought provoking.

Here is one blog review:

I personally love shows like this, so I am eagerly watching and will try to catch all the episodes. We watched the first Cosmos with Carl Sagan back when (no cable then!). And we have the book too. That most likely came with a PBS donation.

Another great space series with lots of original photos and camera work is Wonders of the Universe, and Wonders of the Planets.

The filming of this Brian Cox series... are really fantastic. In fact I have the DVDs of both of them! I like the scripts also and do find Brian a wonderful host.

Every once in a while Science channel runs these shows... usually all in a row on daytime. So do look for it.
The aesthetic feel of Brian's shows is quite different from the glossy new Cosmos. He is a bit more personal and friendly, too.

Thanks for that.

I miss Carl Sagan.

Brokenfriend might like to see those Wonders shows too. I will post it over on his thread.
