For a long time Where You Been was the only Dinosaur Jr. album that I'd listen to. I thought that much of it. For a guy who isn't Dr. Feedback in a musical appreciation sense, Dino is an odd choice.
But they are so much more. They even touch on much of it on Where You Been. Out There got a ton of video play time on MTV, especially 120 minutes. The video is lamentable. Please do not quit the song over the it, avert your eyes! In the last minute they pair bells with his guitar and it is incredible. The song is very Mascis, "weren't you invited" a plaintive cry from the alienated to the alienated. Enjoy. http://youtu.be/XelDCDRnboE

The hit on the album, it also has high voice J, which can be a turn off to some. I love hos vocal range, though.

I picked up this album a few years ago from its place in a CD album. I never wonder why my children want to repeat activities... ad nauseum.
For the longest that meant Where You Been was my Dinosaur Jr. album of choice. It is mint. It is just outside my top 10 albums of all time, edged out by Tori Amos' Under the Pink was in my ear. When all of "this" started I dived down the aural rabbit role. I still do. I was sure that "Feel the Pain", a single released in 1994 would capture the essense of what I feel off Without a Sound. No, it was "Outta Hand", a song about dissonance in a relationship. Mine was more with myself at the time and I suppose, still is. It is a sad song, it is a reflective song and it is noisier than the pace and volume would suggest. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SwyBicBwWGs
