I'm reading a true hunting crime story that happened here in MI.

But, I'm really here to tell about a wonderful movie I watched last night. I'm a Maggie Smith fan, she's kind of the unsung hero of her movie generation, she's extremely versatile.

"Keeping Mum" (2005) is a dark comedy I got from Netflix and it was hysterical! You have to appreciate the subtle nuances of dark comedy, but it is a riot.

Read a great book while on vacation.
Actually I read a couple, some deep and one lighthearted.

The lighthearted one, which even made me laugh out loud was the latest in the series by Sophie Kinsella who does the shopaholic books.

It was called Remember Me?

It was great and I recomend the whole series. They are fun and just make ya smile when reading.

oh, I forgot the book thread, too! O.O

I just finished The Collector, by John Fowles. This is an old book, from 1963.
I found it in my husband's book stash....he read it for a college course decades ago. It was very good.

I am now reading Snakes in Suits--

I have read 2 other sociopath/psychopath books, and this one is an extension of those. Dr. Hare is excellent and has opened the definition of psychopathy to a more general occurance. The place where I used to work was fraught with "problems" and this book puts those into an understandable perspective, albeit a disturbing one. The psychopath in the workplace! Cringe! Not all psychopaths end up as serial killers like you see in the media...many are married and have white collar/professional jobs. What they do there at work can be a nightmare!
(Imagine a psychopath with access to DRUGS!)

I also picked up the NEW Nora Roberts/JD Robb... just out...Strangers in Death.
This one is not at all like the preceding one.. much slower going. I actually like this pace a bit better...the last one was TOO rough for me.

This weekend is our library sale... I am itching to go on Sat morning for my vacation stash. LOL

Just saw an enchanting little indy film called Son of Rambow. Really worth the price of admission.

for those who follow

The series No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith....

#9 has just come out, and I found it 1/2 price at Costco.

I just started it...and it proves to be good so far.

This site has beautiful indigenous music too!
The cover of this new book is just beautiful!

It is a nice coincidence too. As I just bought and received some beautiful
Malachite specimens from South Africa!

I watched The Sea Inside, about a man who had spent more than 20 yrs as a quad, fighting for his right to die.

It was beautifully done. Very senisitive to not only the main character - Ramon - and his feelings, but also the feelings of his family, community, and friends.

His lawyers fail to win his case, and one, Julia, who becomes very close as the story unwinds, suffers a few strokes (she has cadasil).

Makes you really think about the quality of life and who should decide what that means - the individual, the law or the loved ones? Julia winds up unable to use her legs, and eventually not much is left of her mind. Unlike Ramon she is unable to say this is not how she wants to live.

Movie review

What do Apple Computers, iPhone/AT&T, Motorola Razr, Cadillac, Disney, Mercedes, & Ferrari all have in common?

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

It was totally unbelievable, ridiculously farfetched, historically inferior, and utterly devoid of credibility.

I LOVED IT!

This is high fiction with a fusion of fantasy and deserves a look if only for the adventure and the great pace. It moves along swimmingly, and yep, they find it.

A thumb & a half up (can't get the left one to cooperate)!:p:cool:

LOL Nappy its on my list to see! I worked on the advertising for the first National Treasure.

Saw Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian today and thought it was great! A little darker than the first but still fun for the whole family.
