Thumbs down You; An Owners Manual

I just finished this book today and I didn't like it at all.

It was co-authored by Dr. OZ and although it had good advice I was dissappointed because it had silly things and illustrations which were meant to be funny but weren't.

Some of the comments such as one referring to all women wanting a "man who was blessed" (which is not the way the book put it) sounded like teenaged boys in the locker room.

I saw the name DR. Oz so instead of looking through the book to see what it was like I just plunked down the money for it which I rarely do.

What a waste.

Default Thanks...

Thanks for the comment on this book - I won't bother looking for it. Am surprised it's written in this manner, I too figured it would be worth while reading.

Thanks again for saving me from disappointment!

I would have to respectfully disagree...although I can see where this book would not be for everyone. It was on the New York Times Bestseller list, which certainly implies that it was popular.

My thought is that the authors were trying to make a potentially boring and/or difficult subject light hearted. So, they used humor and cartoon drawings to make things easy and fun.

I enjoyed the book and plan on reading it again at some point.

It might be the type of book best to check out at the library...especially if you are already in the medical field, in a related profession or very well read on the subject. It is not overly technical. However, it does provide very good information and in an easy to read, light format.

Additionally, I find this book, and others by these authors helpful in that they encourage readers to take very good care of their health...something many people tend to put off because they become distracted.
