I found this article recently when I was researching mammograms because of a rather large lump I have. I've always wondered if mammograms may cause cancer themselves (you're getting radiated after all), and this article rings of truth to me. I will not get another mammogram. I've had one before, and a lump removed (much smaller than the one I have now, and in the same breast), and it turned out to be benign. I've never understood the point of them doing all the scans they did on my breast (I'm small-breasted and they were having problems getting the mass to show, I guess), when it didn't tell them anything I didn't already know (that I had a lump). Why couldn't/didn't they find out if the lump was cancerous or not before doing unnecessary surgery on me?
Anyway, I'm going to paste the first part of the article below and you can read the rest at http://www.draxe.com/mammograms-cause-cancer/, would love to hear any thoughts on it. Quote:

Heard of this 'Dr Axe' until reading about him today. His web site seems greared to SELL vitamins and things! There were few creditable nor respected references in his entire article! Better yet? Try this site:
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/f...ion/mammograms To find out about good docs and where they are? Go to this site: http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals And go thru their site... I don't know where you live? But if you've a hospital in the top 75-100 nearby? Go for it? Or, at least get their opinion. W/my own insurance, second opinions cost only co-pays! Cheap in the long run-I mean? It's YOUR LIFE! Besides in My own Humble Opinion? The more opinions to one way of treatment vs something more 'dramatic'? [As SOME docs want to do?] the more ammo you have to get the best treatment you can get! Hang tough for now? It doesn't get easier? Just more bizarre! But that's my take on things. Most of us come out of IT at the end and do just fine. Keep faith and hope IN YOURSELF and YOUR INSTINCTS! Bless your heart for reaching out, There are many here and other places who can and do help! 's!!!!!!!!!!! - j |

Thanks so much for the reply, j. I hadn't heard of Dr. Axe either before finding that article, but I browsed through some other stuff on his site and I like him. He's on my wavelength. I have no faith in conventional healthcare, or the government. I'm a truth seeker.
Unfortunately, I have no insurance either, so I probably can't afford this new thermogram testing... so I probably just won't get it checked out at all. I think I have "fibrocystic breasts"... haven't been diagnosed but I get little lumps from time to time, which usually go away pretty fast... this current one is the largest I've had and has been sticking around awhile, but it does seem to be shrinking. And I don't have any other cancer symptoms such as dimpling or bleeding. So... I'll just try to up my veggie intake and hope for the best. |
