Post Kids are so resilient...

You know fever in children is not to be feared...it helps mobilize the
white cells to fight infection. Small children often get fevers, and only when
they become very quiet, or tired/sleepy, should you really get concerned.

Just make sure lots of fluids are going in. That is very important.

Thanks so much. I believe the fever has broken. He's not had any more tylenol since 1:30 today. He stayed warm but not hot, then cooled right off. He just woke up (he's really tired from tylenol and virus) and I've not taken it yet. I'd say it's 99 or so.

He used to get alot higher fevers than this with viruses so I'm pleased in that respect...scary high ones. Also, he almost always got asthmatic with viruses and doesn't do that anymore either.

If he doesn't have more energy tomorrow I'll be concerned. I'm not right now though. I think he's fought a good fight in his little body today. He was tired but not scary so. He slept from 6 till just now so it should be an interesting night...lol.

Thank you so much everyone! I will keep a close eye out because alot of children are getting very sick with secondary infections around here right now...lots of hospitalizations.

Thank you MrsD! He just said, "Mom, I'm thirsty" so mom's running right now!

Thanks (((((((((( everyone )))))))))))))))

Well, he went back to school today for the first time in about 11 days. He could've gone back sooner (heath-wise) but we had frigid temps and then snow, so...

He seemed to be doing really well with the virus and temp, but his cough was worrisome. After he seemed to be doing some better (but for cough), he began to throw up once at night for three nights.

I remembered he'd done this last year. It was from congestion and zyrtec cleared him right up. It did this time too. Right after that, his appetite came back like crazy and now he's my wild little man again.

He had a residual cough for a couple of days, but it got much looser and it went away. I called the dr's office twice and they had NOTHING, and said as long as his chest wasn't tight anymore and his fever gone to monitor but NOT to take to ER or anything because so much is going around. I hate that. It makes my anxiety so high to know this precious little boy is feeling badly and I'm not making it a whole lot better. I would like to have doctor say, "Oh, it sounds bad to you but he's doing really well!"

He was sick start to finish Sunday through Friday. After I gave him the zyrtec, he immediately made the final turn. He was so happy to be back at school today. His friends and teachers missed him.

Thank you all so much for the kind words, advice and concerns!

KD

Dear Kimmydawn,
I'm really happy to hear that he's feeling so much better now and even well enough to get back to school. Seeing his friends and getting back in routine might just be what he needs now to get back to one hundred percent.

take care,
Lara
