Smile Meet your moderator!

Hello everyone

My name is Wittesea, also known as Liz, and I am the Moderator of the Caregivers forum.

As a moderator I am here to help you and to help this forum be a safe supportive community.

Many of you may be familiar with a different style of Moderation where the moderators were hidden behind a number and moderated without warning or discussion. I will never be that type of moderator.

If and when I have to take action as a moderator, you will always know the reason why, and you will never be "in trouble" with me for asking me questions about my reasons for my actions.

As a part of the moderation team, I am here to work with all of you to make this forum a safe and supportive community.

If anyone had any questions or concerns, feel free to ask them in this thread, or you can send me a Private Message by clicking on my username and choosing that option.

Below is some general information about the BrainTalk2 forums -

DocJohn (the administrator of BrainTalk2) has recently created the new community guidelines which can be viewed here-
http://forums.braintalk2.org/showthread.php?t=1293

If you would like to discuss the community guidelines or if you hae questions about them, DocJohn made a feedback/discussion thread in the Community & Forum Feedback forum, a link to that thread is here -
http://forums.braintalk2.org/showthread.php?t=1294

Or feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns about the guidelines.

Hi Wittesea, thanks for the intro. Hope you'll enjoy being the moderator here. We should be pretty good to deal with...most of us are too darn tired to raise much of a ruckus. We do often come here to vent because if we scream, cry and spout off in front of family, friends and neighbors they either run quickly the other way or think that we have finally gone over the edge...or worse that we are "overacting".

Sometimes we are frightened, lonely, or feel abandoned by our usual support systems. Don't worry about what you might see written here, once we get to talk to others who share our lives, we usually can "get a grip" and go back to putting one foot in front of the other for another several months.

Are you a caregiver? (BTW I consider a mother with medical problems to also be one of us). They can understand the extra challenges of trying to keep things as normal as possible while dealing with internal/external crises/aches and pains.

Hi Liz, good to see you here. You're mighty good at finding things when we are so exhausted we can hardly move.

I know you have health problems also so you do know that is also draining. I hope we can have a good forum here, help is all to feel better about things. Cargiveing is hard

At one time you took care of your husband didn;t you? I seems to ring a bell. Anyway, good to see you as the Moderator here JoJo

Hello trekker and JoJo. Thank you both for the warm welcome.

JoJo you have a good memory, yes I was a caregiver to my husband for about a year while he was fighting testicular cancer. He is in full remission now, but I will never forget how hard it was to watch him suffer, and then on top of having that stress and emotional pain was all the extra physical work to help him, and the house, and do everything that needed doing along with doing all the worrying.

trekker, I can relate to everything you said in your post. The exhaustion, the tears, the fear and being lonley, and the family that just doesn't always get it, and the need to just scream at the end of the day (quietly into your pillow of course so you don't disturb or worry the loved one you are caring for).

Being able to relate to being a caregiver is one of the reasons I volunteered to moderate this particular forum.

Thank you again for the warm welcomes

Hi Liz,

Thank you for that introduction. It is nice to actually know who the moderators are.

I hope your job won't be too hard.

Good Luck,
Linda
